Advanced Coaching Course (Formerly Level 3 Course)
The Advanced Coaching Course serves the purpose of providing experienced community coaches the opportunity to further develop and build their capacity in coach education & development. The course is designed to cater for those who have completed Elevate coaching courses (or a level 2 prior to November 2024) and looking to broaden their understanding and skills to become a high-performing coach.
The course themes/topics are consistent with the former Level 3 community coaching course that is in alignment with the 6 key coaching competencies.
The course is a blended program, delivered both face-to-face and virtually over an 8-month period of the 2026 season.
Face-to-face: From 15-20 hrs. Example: Facilitate 2 full day workshops over a weekend in Nov/Dec 2025 + a half day later in Feb/March.
Webinars: 3 x 60-90 minute Nationally run Webinars. Themes: Developing your Game Plan, Strategy 6: Tactics and Performance Psychology.
Online Coach Learning Groups: 5 x 60-90 minute monthly online sessions. Course participants to connect monthly online. Sessions to feature a theme/topic where coaches have the opportunity to engage with facilitator, peers and share their ideas, challenges and learn from each other.
Assessment tasks:
- Upload Individual Development Plan (IDP) Pre/Post Course - Including reflections
- Upload Team Game Plan Presentation
- Upload Team Agreed Behavioural Framework
- Film yourself Coaching and receive feedback from your CLG.
- Deliver a Coaching Workshop 6: Upload Coach Workshop Reflection
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Coaches wishing to nominate must meet the following criteria:
Completed Elevate Bundle or each Elevate course individually or have obtained a Level 2 coaching accreditation prior to 2024.
In 2026, be coaching in one of the following competitions listed below:
Commitment to 100% attendance for all course sessions.
Be an engaged learner. Evidence of AFL Learn record within LMS of Online and Face-to-face engagement.

COURSE APPLICATION PROCESS
Online application for (see below link) which includes:
Endorsement from coach's club, league or region.
Evidence of coaching background and standard attained
Evidence of education programs undertaken in Australian Football or in other sporting contexts. Formally notify successful and unsuccessful candidates via email by a specified date. Advise success candidates they will receive a link to register and pay upon enrolment.

Upon completion of the course, coaches will obtain 400 points & and Advanced Coaching badge*
