Senior Men’s Match Day Runner & Performance Statistics Assistant
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the Wilston Grange QAFL Senior Men’s coaching staff on match day by combining **runner responsibilities with live match statistics and performance observations**.
The role would provide the coaching staff with another set of eyes during games, helping communicate messages to players while also identifying important trends that can assist coaches with decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Match Day Runner
* Deliver clear and accurate messages from coaches to players when permitted under competition rules.
* Communicate positional changes, structures and coaching instructions.
* Remain calm and professional when delivering messages.
* Return directly to the bench after delivering instructions.
* Build strong communication and trust with players and coaches.
Statistics & Performance
* Assist with recording important team and player statistics.
* Track areas such as clearances, inside 50s, turnovers, tackles, contested possessions, scoring efficiency and other statistics requested by coaches.
* Identify trends occurring throughout the game.
* Provide simple quarter-time and half-time statistical updates to the coaching staff.
* Assist with post-game statistical summaries where required.
Coaching Support
* Observe opposition structures and important match-ups.
* Help identify where the team is winning or losing key areas of the game.
* Support coaches with information rather than trying to make coaching decisions independently.
* Attend selected training sessions and team meetings where appropriate.
* Learn the club's game plan, terminology and expectations.

I would bring enthusiasm, reliability and a strong willingness to learn.
As a current footballer, I understand how players communicate and what information is useful during a game. I am very interested in coaching, statistics, game strategy and player development and would like to continue developing my knowledge within the senior football environment.

The South Melbourne Districts Amateur Football Club seeks applications for the upcoming 2027 season and beyond.
Competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) – Division 2 – we will compete in our 115th season in 2027. Having returned to Division 2 in 2023 following premierships to both our Seniors and Reserves teams, we have since been successful in making finals in three of the last four seasons.
We also have Women’s teams competing in the VAFA women’s competitions and will once again be fielding a U19 men’s team this coming season, after a stellar first season made possible as a result of the continued growth of our junior program. This is something the club is heavily invested in, and we need the right person to spearhead this crucial project as we move forward with the next step of our Junior to Senior pathway.

We are looking for an U18 Men's Coach to lead the next wave of players coming through our junior program.
This is a genuine pathway role. Our juniors are strong from the bottom up, our senior program is well established, and the two are closely connected with U18s training overlapping with seniors, and defined shared training nights throughout the season with U16s. You'll be backed by an experienced, engaged committee and a junior subcommittee that does the work behind the scenes, so you can focus on coaching.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Football Coach to lead our senior football program. Applications are welcomed from both experienced playing coaches and non-playing senior coaches.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for player development, strong leadership, the ability to build a positive club culture and the tactical expertise to lead our senior program to sustained on-field success.
Working closely with the Football Committee, the successful coach will be supported in assembling and leading a collaborative assistant coaching panel to deliver specialist development across the senior football program.
Key Responsibilities
Design and execute pre-season and in-season training programs tailored for both senior performance and youth development.
Work with the Football Committee to recruit, develop and lead a high-quality assistant coaching panel.
Implement a modern game plan that leverages a mix of experienced senior players and emerging local talent.
Actively mentor and transition players making the leap from under-age ranks to senior community football.
Manage player recruitment and retention in alignment with the RDFNL Player Points Policy and the full salary cap budget.
Foster a disciplined, inclusive, and professional club-first culture.
Selection Criteria
· Demonstrated coaching success at senior, elite reserves or high-performance junior level.
· Proven ability to recruit and develop an effective assistant coaching panel.
· Strong leadership, communication, culture-building and player development skills.
· Demonstrated ability to transition and retain junior players into senior football.
· Ability to work collaboratively with the Football Committee, volunteers and the broader club community.
· AFL Coach Accreditation (Level 2 preferred, or willingness to obtain).
· Current Working with Children Check.
Remuneration
A competitive remuneration and support package will be negotiated based on the successful applicant's experience, qualifications and vision for the club.
