Senior Men’s Coach – Port Macquarie Magpies AFL Club

About the Role

Our women’s program continues to grow each year, and in 2026 we are seeking to appoint a Senior Coach (and supporting coaches) to lead and manage our QFAW Division 2 North Women’s Team.

The Role

Support the performance and development of junior girls’ coaches by;

The Senior Women’s Coach holds a prominent position within the club and plays a pivotal role in fostering a respectful, welcoming, and inclusive team and club culture, aligning with the club's mission. They will offer guidance and leadership within the football program and club, including mentoring other coaches, strategic planning, program reviews, and player recruitment. Senior Women’s Coach will oversee the on-field performance of the Women’s football team and nurture the development of individual players in our playing list.

Statement of Responsibilities:
Planning & Administration
• Develop a comprehensive Football & Coaching plan aligned with the Club's Strategic Plan and Values, focusing on creating a respectful, welcoming and inclusive team and culture
• Work with club coaches to coordinate joint training opportunities.
• Offer recommendations for necessary resources to support the football program.
• Act as a representative of the club during official functions, events, and initiatives as required
Recruitment & Retention
• Promote and support pathways for players from lower grades and local Junior clubs
• Implement strategies to enhance player retention, including creating an inclusive and fun environment for players.
Player and Coach Development
• Provide regular individual and group feedback and strategies for player / team development.
• Working with other local, junior and school coaches to support coach development
• Enhance individual and group football skills and game sense proficiencies.
• Develop the role of each player within the team and the capacity to play in different positions
Coaching: Pre-Season and Regular Season
• Responsible for the coordination of preseason and regular season training
• Attendance at all sessions
o Pre-season: Late November to end of January & February to March
o Regular Season: April to August: two nights a week (compulsory Thursday) 6:15pm-7:45 pm with the expectation that you arrive early to set up and orientate from 6.00pm.
• Additional team or committee meetings as may be required on an adhoc basis.
• Finalise team selections on Thursday night to announce at whole club dinner.
• Liaise with club medical & physio staff about rehabilitation/training and the availability of injured players.

We are looking for someone to lead our Reserves team who has a passion for progressing women’s football, can work with a coaching team in the development of players and have the ability to build relationships with strong communication and leadership skills.
Prior experience in coaching is desirable, however this is an exciting opportunity for a recently retired player to begin their coaching career. You are expected to have or will attain as a minimum the Bronze AFL Coach Accreditation before the season starts.

the Senior Coach to drive this improvement and create sustainable success. The successful candidate will work
