Glenorchy District Football Club has a proud and deep connection to Tasmanian football. The Club’s origins trace back to the New Town Football Club, which was reformed in 1919 and joined the Tasmanian Football League senior competition in 1921. In 1945, under the district football system, the Club became New Town District Football Club, before changing its name to Glenorchy District Football Club in 1957 and relocating to King George V Oval at Glenorchy.
Known as the Magpies and strongly identified with its black-and-white colours, Glenorchy has built a respected football legacy across more than a century of competition. Montmorency Football Netball Club currently fields two senior women’s teams in Division One and Division Three within the Northern Football Netball League.
