Queensland

Alexandra Hills Australian Football Club is seeking expressions of interest for the Senior Assistant Coach role for the 2026 season, competing in QFA Division 2.

The Senior Assistant Coach will work closely with the Senior Coach to support the leadership and delivery of the Mens football program. Responsibilities will include assisting with player development and recruitment, planning and facilitating training sessions, supporting match day preparation and operations, and reinforcing high standards, culture, and accountability across the program.

Coaching experience is not essential. However, applicants must demonstrate a strong understanding of Australian Football, a high level of commitment, and well developed interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. This role is ideal for someone seeking to progress their coaching pathway within a supportive, community focused club environment while contributing meaningfully to on field performance and long term program development.

About BFC (Burnie Dockers)
The Burnie Football Club (BFC) is one of the most established and successful Australian Rules Football clubs on the North West Coast of Tasmania. We have a proud history of developing players, coaches and leaders both on and off the field. The Men’s team in the NWFL represents the club in the Premier League, the highest level of community football  on the North West of Tasmania.

The Role
The Head Coach (Playing or Non Playing) to lead the Men’s senior program, driving on-field success, player development and alignment with the broader values and vision of the Burnie Football Club. This is a leadership role that requires strong communication, in-depth knowledge of high-level football and the ability to foster a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities
•    Lead and manage the Men’s Premier League program, including players, assistant coaches and support staff.
•    Develop and implement a game plan and training program that ensures competitiveness and player growth.
•    Foster a strong, positive, and inclusive team culture that aligns with BFC’s values.
•    Mentor and develop emerging talent from within the BFC pathway.
•    Work collaboratively with the Football Director leadership to achieve strategic goals.
•    Represent BFC in a professional manner on and off the field.

Key Selection Criteria
•    Demonstrated coaching experience at Premier League / State League or equivalent level is desirable (minimum Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation, or willingness to obtain).
•    Proven ability to lead, inspire and manage a playing group and coaching team.
•    Strong technical and tactical knowledge of modern football.
•    Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
•    Commitment to player development across all levels.
•    Ability to contribute to the long-term success and culture of the club.
