Mental Health Programs

AHEAD OF THE GAME

The AFL in partnership with Movember delivers Ahead of the Game, a youth mental health program. It teaches players, parents, coaches, umpires and volunteers how to recognise mental health challenges and know where to get help, build mental fitness and strengthen resilience.

Ahead of the Game is the largest rollout of a mental fitness program in sport globally. Interactive workshops are free for all youth community clubs, giving everyone at the club the tools to recognise mental health challenges, identify when and where to get help, and build resilience to deal with challenges in footy and life.

ADULTS AND COACHES

Programs that give everyone at the club the tools to recognise mental health challenges, identify when and where to get help.

Parents

Parent focused programs provide practical tools and strategies to help adults better support the wellbeing of young people. Interactive sessions promote understanding and confidence in recognising when support might be needed.

Young People

Youth focused programs build skills and the confidence to support mental fitness both on and off the field. Football related workshops encourage open conversations about mental health while learning how to recognise challenges, support teammates and promote resilience and wellbeing.
