Mental Health Workshops for Clubs (Tackle Your Feelings)
Mental Health Workshops for Clubs (Tackle Your Feelings)
Tackle Your Feelings is a free mental health training program designed for senior community AFL coaches, umpires, players, committee members, and club support staff.
Created in 2018 by the AFL Coaches Association, AFL Players’ Association, and Zurich Insurance, the program was developed in response to the tragic loss of Adelaide coach Phil Walsh, with the goal of improving mental health awareness and support in community football.
Informed by education delivered at AFL level and evaluated by Monash University in 2021, the program helps clubs foster a culture that prioritises mental wellbeing.
Program Overview
- 90-minute face-to-face workshop led by a local psychologist
- Additional online learning modules available to deepen understanding
- Features insights from ambassadors including Dylan Buckley, Nathan Buckley, Ellie Blackburn, and Steven May
Community clubs play a key role in recognising when someone is struggling. This program gives you the tools to notice the signs, start conversations, and create supportive environments for everyone involved in your club.
