The Arnhem Crows have extended their unbeaten run in the 2025 BRFL Women’s division with a hard-fought 25-point victory over a determined Katherine South outfit.
The Crocs came to play, matching the ladder-leaders in an even opening quarter that ended locked at 13-all. But the Crows flexed their muscle in the second term, holding Katherine South scoreless while piling on three unanswered goals to take a 19-point lead into the main break.
The third quarter saw a spirited response from the Crocs, who matched Arnhem’s two goals to stay in the hunt heading into the final term. But the Crows proved too composed in the dying stages, outscoring the Crocs two goals to one to seal a sixth consecutive win.
Lynelle Ahfat was the standout with four majors, while Moniquah Ulamari and Ashanti Bush were superb around the ground. For Katherine South, Drew Cook, Jaidyn Eastaughffe, and Rosie Alderton fought bravely in the loss.
Ngukurr has claimed its second victory of the women’s season with a composed display against the Katherine Camels.
The Bulldogs set the tone early, keeping the Camels scoreless in the first half while kicking four goals of their own in a performance built on disciplined defence and clean transition. Though the Camels mounted a fight in the second half and registered nine scoring shots, their inaccuracy proved costly, managing just 2.7 to Ngukurr’s efficient 7.3.
It was a complete team effort from the Bulldogs, with contributions across the park, while the Camels were well-served by Alex Antonio, Ellie Hicks, Tessa Ryan, and Casidy Whitehouse.
In the Men’s division, the Garrak Bombers outgunned the Ngukurr Bulldogs in a fast-paced, high-scoring contest that saw momentum swing throughout.
Seven first-quarter goals signalled the attacking intent from both sides, and the trend continued into the second term as the Bombers carved out a 12-point halftime buffer. Ngukurr narrowed the gap to 10 by three-quarter time, but Garrak surged home with a four-goal final quarter that sealed a 21-point win.
Jesim Blitner was a force up forward for Garrak, with Robin Wesly and Matthias Andrews playing key roles in the midfield. For Ngukurr, Kurt Silver brought speed and energy to the contest, constantly challenging the Bombers' defence.
The Northern Warlpiri Swans have issued a warning to the rest of the competition after dismantling the Ngaliwurru Lions in one of the most dominant BRFL performances in recent memory.
The Swans were irresistible, booting 27 goals in a blistering display that showcased their firepower and premiership credentials. The Lions, to their credit, never stopped competing despite the overwhelming scoreboard pressure, with Peter Harrington, Ryan Cooper-Althouse, and Keenan Jones showing grit and determination.
Kyle Doolan, Jezeniah Poulson, Jonas Cook, and Elijah Kelly were unstoppable for the Swans, running through the midfield and forward lines to help engineer the massive win.
The Camels continue to lead the men’s ladder following a composed 30-point victory over Gulf Storm.
Vice-captain Ricky Walsh was central to the win, booting three goals and setting the tone early. He was well supported by a hard-working midfield group including Brock Reynolds, Ned Ashworth, and Daniel Vercoe, who helped the Camels dominate contested possession and inside 50s.
Despite the result, the Storm showed plenty of heart, with Nathrall Dickson, Deakin Green, and Brett Anderson putting in resilient efforts across the four quarters.
