AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) congratulates all umpires appointed to officiate in all 2025/26 TIO NTFL Grand Finals across TIO Stadium and Gardens Oval.
Grand Final appointments represent the highest honour within our local competition and are the result of a long and demanding season. Across the 2025/26 home and away campaign, 4,102 umpiring appointments were fulfilled, reflecting the scale and strength of the TIO NTFL competition.
The continued growth of women and girls football has been matched within the umpiring ranks, with year-on-year participation increasing by 30.8 per cent, including a 56.3 per cent rise in youth girls involvement. The development of female and junior officials has been a significant feature of the season and is reflected across this weekend’s appointments.
AFLNT Umpiring Lead, Martin Oosthuysen, said Grand Final selection is recognition of sustained performance and professionalism.
“To be appointed to a Grand Final is a significant achievement and a reward for commitment across the entire season,” Oosthuysen said.
“The standard of umpiring throughout the 2025/26 season has been outstanding. We have seen experienced officials continue to lead, while emerging young umpires have stepped confidently into senior competitions.
“The growth in women and girls participation within our umpiring cohort is particularly pleasing and reflects the broader momentum of football in the Territory.”
