West have resumed their 2026 TIO Central Australian Football League campaign in emphatic fashion, extending their lead at the top of the ladder following a dominant Round 8 performance.

The reigning frontrunners reinforced their premiership credentials with a powerful display against the Rovers, setting the tone early that left their opponents chasing the game for much of the afternoon.

Despite the defeat, the Rovers found strong contributors in Delaicee Hansen, Keialah Satour and Doreena Hansen, who battled hard throughout the contest.

For West, Sally Crispe, Regan Maher-Moldrich and Caitlin Couch again played pivotal roles, continuing the outstanding form that has underpinned the club's impressive season to date.

In the men's division, West secured a significant victory in the context of the finals race, defeating second-placed Rovers in convincing fashion.

West burst out of the blocks early to establish a 16-point lead at quarter-time, but the Rovers responded strongly in the second term. Four goals for the quarter saw the margin trimmed to just two points at the main break.

What followed was a statement performance from the ladder leaders. West overwhelmed the Rovers after halftime, piling on 11 goals to three in a relentless display that turned a tight contest into a one-sided affair.

Cohen Thiele was the major beneficiary of West's dominance, finishing with five goals. Jayden Dick was influential throughout, while Palmerston Magpies-listed Ryan Warfe, Jordan Bailey and Fletcha Murphy all made valuable contributions to the victory.

For the Rovers, Gage Smith, Quinten Close and Shaydan Close were among the side's most consistent performers as they look to rebound against the Pioneer Eagles next round.

Meanwhile, Pioneer maintained its unbeaten start to the season with a commanding victory over Souths.

The contest was hot early, with the Eagles holding a two-goal advantage at the first break. However, Pioneer quickly seized control in the second quarter, kicking five goals to open up a 44-point lead and put the result beyond doubt.

The Eagles continued to dictate proceedings for the remainder of the match, led by Wesley Steele, who starred with six goals. Thomas Swan, Jacon Lampton and Nathaniel Lampton were also among the standout performers in another polished team display.

For Souths, Kayne Lynch, Joshua Tilmouth and Darren Abbott were notable contributors. The side will now use this weekend's bye to regroup ahead of its next challenge.
