The TPIL Lawyers QAFL is hard to tip
Big wins, nailbiters, teams hot one week, cold the next. Only three rounds in and the TPIL Lawyers QAFL has seemingly seen it all already and with a relatively odd start to the year, it's anyone's guess who's going to win any given match.
Reigning premiers Morningside have only physically played one match for one loss and Noosa (2024 - 11th) are 3-0 and sit atop the ladder heading into the Easter long weekend. On the other side of the break, Redland Victoria Point and Palm Beach Currumbin face off in Round 4 as the only other two undefeated sides (2-0) in what might be a sneak preview into a battle we may encounter at some point in September.
A week is a long time in the QAFL
After being soundly beaten by Surfers Paradise in Round 2, Sherwood have bounced back to comfortably account for one of the competition's in form sides, Maroochydore. Going down to newcomers Coorparoo in Round 2, Broadbeach bounce back to knock off the reigning premiers in a soggy nailbiter, whilst after starting 0-2, Wilston Grange are on the board with a hard-fought win at home in the wet against Coorparoo.
Female Panthers aren't making up the numbers
Whilst a Round 1 victory over fellow newcomers Moreton Bay didn't raise too many eyebrows, their Round 2 victory against powerhouse Aspley proves Morningside are more than capable at their new level. 18-year-old Isabella Levine (Bond University QAFLW Round 2 Rising Star) dominated in the wet with 29 disposals, backing up a solid senior debut in Round 1. Where can the newcomers take their 2025 season?
Close games and Redland Victoria Point are like peas and carrots
The Sharks faithful must be out of nails to chew on, after the side produced yet another match that went down to the wire when they held off Surfers Paradise by five points. Add this to the two point Round 2 victory against Maroochydore, their five point 2024 Grand Final loss, and goal on the siren to win against Aspley in the 2024 preliminary final, Redland Victoria Point love a close game!
Spare a thought for those washing the jumpers
In a start to the season that could be mistaken for the Queensland Australian Water Polo League, 2025 has produced some all time classic football conditions. Here's a shout out to all the hard-working volunteers washing the jumpers across the first month of 2025, as well as the tireless efforts of the ground staff across the competition keeping the playing surfaces in top shape.
