Ringwood Seconday College students at last year's pilot AFL Nines Schools Competition
AFL Victoria is proud to launch the inaugural AFL Nines State Championships for Year 7 and 8 students this year – proudly aligned with the 2025 Herald Sun Shield.
To qualify, school teams must compete at and win their local regional AFL Nines competition (see below), with winning teams from each region facing off at the State Championships on Wednesday 10 September.
There is no cost to participate, but registrations are limited based on venue capacity - register quickly to avoid disappointment.
Schools are limited to entering one team per division, and younger players are allowed to play up if required to make the minimum team size (nine players).
Teams can compete in one of four divisions:
- Year 7 Boys
- Year 7 Girls
- Year 8 Boys
- Year 8 Girls
