Player Name: Ryleigh Delacour-Batch

Nickname: RJ

Playing Position: On ball and Wing

Senior Club:  Sydney University

Junior Club: Cronulla Sharks JAFC

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?

RJ had a delayed start to the season, as she was representing NSW for Baseball. Once she was back she put together a great run of games for the Cubs (Syd Uni 20s) She was in red hot form in the Cubs and knocked the door down to be selected in Prems.

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field?

RJ has played a multitude of positions in Prems, starting up forward, moved to the wing and on ball more recently. She is a very capable midfielder that is strong inside or outside and has a booming boot that's fed our forwards for weeks. Off the field even though she has been in Prems for the last 6 weeks she still makes an effort to come down and support/run water for the U20s team she started the season with.

What are the reasons for nomination this round?

In this game RJ had 24 disposals, 5 clearances and 0 turnovers. She is an effective ball user in the middle of the park and even as an in and under midfielder is able to distribute flawlessly.

Coach quote on Performance.

" RJ has hit the ground running in Prems. After 4 games of U20s she stepped up as a late replacement for Prems. She kicked a beautiful goal from 40 out in the forward pocket of Number 1 Oval. From then on RJ has been part of the Prems program. She has now put together 3 games of 20+ disposals whether it be on the wing or on ball. This is usually accompanied by bulk clearances, inside 50s and consistently being named in the best by her team mates." – Jon Dyster (Sydney University Women’s Premier Division Coach)
