The Central Australia Football League (CAFL) is delighted to unveil the extended squad for the upcoming representative match against St Mary’s Football Club, proudly supported by Yeperenye Shopping Centre.
Set to take place on July 20th at TIO Traeger Park, the eagerly awaited event marks the CAFL representative footy return for a second year, offering an exciting opportunity to inspire younger players to engage in representative football.
Selected after careful consideration and consultation with TIO CAFL Clubs and CAFL Representative coaching staff, the squad represents the best talent from the region, poised to showcase their skills on the field.
This year’s opponent, St Mary’s Football Club, hailing from the TIO Northern Territory Football League (NTFL), promises to provide impressive competition, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown.
The Selection Committee, comprising Chairperson Cyril Rioli Cnr, Head Coach Matt Campbell, Dan Gretgrix, Darren Talbot and Charlie Lowson have crafted the squad, ensuring a blend of experience, talent, and versatility. The announced lists are subject to change based on factors such as availability, injury, and form. The final team will be unveiled in the week leading up to the game.
Former President of the Pioneer Football Club, 1971 Minahan medallist, and Managing Director of Yeperenye Shopping Centre, Owen Cole shared “Yeperenye Shopping Centre is proud to be sponsoring the local CAFL representative side against the TIO NTFL premiers, St Mary’s, it provides great opportunity for local Alice Springs footballers to showcase their incredible talent against St Mary’s, who remain the most successful football club in the NT”
Aaron Campbell, Centre Manager of Yeperenye, and past multiple premiership player with Pioneer Football Club, went on to say “this sponsorship again highlights Yeperenye Shopping Centre’s ongoing commitment to positive community engagement.
“Yeperenye will always endeavour to support local sport, as we recognize the positive impact that sport has on our community’s development and wellbeing.”
Preceding the main event, the CAFL Under 18 Male division will kick off the day with West facing off against Federals at 9:30 am, followed by Souths battling Pioneer at 11:15 am.
Adding to the excitement, AFLNT is thrilled to announce the inclusion of the CAFL Senior Women’s Match. Scheduled for 1:00 pm, this matchup will feature the best of the Senior women's competition, with the U23s pitted against the Over 23s in a captivating showcase of CAFL talent.
