The Chemist Warehouse AFLW Community Ambassador Program is back for 2025 – and it’s time to shine a light on the Territory legends making a real impact in women and girls’ footy.

Whether they’re coaching juniors in Jabiru, umpiring in Alice Springs, running water in Katherine or leading from the front at senior level in Darwin, the Territory has no shortage of champions driving the growth of female football.

Now in its fifth year, the program celebrates the everyday heroes across the country who’ve helped make women and girls’ footy one of the fastest growing parts of the game. With AFLW heading into its 10th season, participation has skyrocketed – growing nearly 200 per cent since 2016 – and that’s thanks to grassroots efforts in communities like ours.

Nominations are open now until Sunday, July 20, with one winner selected from each state and territory – including the NT – and announced in early September.

Winners receive a $1,000 grant for their club thanks to the Women’s Football Fund, plus an unforgettable experience at the 2025 NAB AFLW Grand Final.

In recent years, several Territorians have been recognised, including:

  • Tamara Spence (Jabiru Bombers, 2024)

  • Crystal Browne (Eastside FC, 2023)

  • Kylie Duggan (Darwin Buffaloes, 2022)

  • Helen Lee (Arnhem Crows, 2022)

  • Lateesha Jeffrey (NTFL, 2021)

AFL Hall of Famer and Women and Girls Football Lead, Debbie Lee, said it’s vital to acknowledge those who help the game grow from the ground up.

“The growth of women and girls football across the country has been championed by passionate and dedicated people in local communities... I encourage clubs across the community to get involved and nominate someone who deserves to be recognised.”

Chemist Warehouse Director Mario Tascone added:

“Chemist Warehouse is thrilled to be supporting the 2025 Chemist Warehouse AFLW Community Ambassador program and acknowledge the tremendous work of volunteers at the community level every year.”
