AFL Northern Territory is thrilled to announce that Emily Wurramara, 2025 National Indigenous Music Awards Artist of the Year will take centre stage as the official pre-match entertainment for the NAB AFLW Dreamtime in Darwin clash at TIO Stadium on Friday 29 August.
A proud Warnindhilyagwa woman from Groote Eylandt & Milyakburra/Bickerton Island, Wurramara has carved out a unique place in the international music landscape with her soulful storytelling and connection to culture. Her 2024 album NARA has made history and earned global acclaim, making her the first Indigenous woman to win Best Contemporary Album at the ARIAs.
She returns to Larrakia Country, where her multi-award-winning clip Lordy Lordy was filmed - to perform in front of a home crowd, helping to set the tone for one of the most culturally significant matches on the NAB AFLW calendar.
Head of AFL Northern Territory Sam Gibson said, “Emily is a phenomenal talent, and we’re proud to welcome her home to help us celebrate the power of football, culture, and community. The NAB AFLW Dreamtime in Darwin match is a celebration of connection and identity, and Emily’s music captures that beautifully. It’s going to be a night to remember at TIO Stadium.”
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the full Dreamtime experience, including cultural ceremonies, family-friendly activities, and Emily’s powerful live performance before the opening bounce.
