AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) is proud to announce the return of the NAB AFL Women’s Dreamtime match to Darwin, with Richmond and Essendon set to face off under lights at TIO Stadium on Friday, 29 August at 6:45pm ACST.
A feature of Round 3 of the 2025 NAB AFLW season and the opening of Indigenous Rounds, the match will be broadcast live and free on the Seven Network, bringing a celebration of elite women’s football and First Nations culture to fans across the country.
Now in its second year, the NAB AFLW Dreamtime match continues to grow in significance as a showcase of cultural celebration and sporting excellence in the Northern Territory.
Head of AFL Northern Territory, Sam Gibson, said the return of the fixture reflects the Territory’s deep connection to the game and the strength of community support for AFLW.
“To have AFLW Dreamtime back in Darwin is a huge win for our community, and the fact it’s secured a Friday night primetime slot on free-to-air TV makes it even more special,” Gibson said.
“This match is more than just four quarters of football – it’s a celebration of culture, identity and connection, and we’re incredibly proud to again share that with the rest of Australia from here in the Top End.”
The fixture highlights AFLNT’s ongoing commitment to recognition, inclusion and growing the game at all levels. With more than 40 per cent of registered players in the Territory identifying as female, the match also shines a spotlight on local talent and the role the NT plays in leading the way in women’s football.
Further details, including ticketing, and surrounding events, will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
