The Cazalys NT Talent Academy Under 16 girls have had their 2026 Marsh AFL National Development Championship fixture announced ahead of their trip next week.
The Championship will feature 10 teams, including the Brisbane Lions Academy, Gold Coast SUNS Academy, GWS Giants Academy, Sydney Swans Academy, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria Country, Victoria Metro, and Western Australia.
Announced to be Northern Territories' opponents are the GWS Giants, set for Thursday, April 9 and the Sydney Swans on Sunday, April 12 both at Blacktown International SportsPark.
The Territory squad returns to action after a spirited campaign against the Sydney-based academies. In their last meeting with the GWS Giants Academy, the NT showed immense grit, led by a dominant Peggy Rock (22 disposals, 10 clearances) and goals from Makenzy Smith and Latoya Young.
Against the Sydney Swans Academy, the side proved they could match it with the best, highlighted by a stunning boundary-line goal from Kayla Ilett and a high-disposal performance from Grace Anstess. Both matches showcased the trademark Territory pressure and resilience that fans can expect to see again this season.
At the conclusion of the Championships each team will select their MVP, with an overall best and fairest and All Australian team to also be selected by a panel comprising AFL Talent Pathways staff and AFLW club recruiters.
