The 2025 Queensland Football Association (QFA) Division 2 North Alpha Sport Premiership and QFA Division 2 South fixtures are now confirmed with the return of Queensland community footy fast approaching.
The 2025 QFA Division 2 North Alpha Sport Premiership Season promises to be competitive, notably, with 2024 Premiers, Sandgate, securing a spot in the 2025 QFA Division 1 HART Sport Cup.
2024 Runners-up, Alexandra Hills, are set to be the front-runners once again in 2025, after falling just one kick short of the Premiership last season.
The club has been working hard during the off-season, adding to their roster while retaining a strong, talented list.
Competition Manager, Travis Bell, said the race for the flag had never been tighter.
“With the competition returning to 11 teams, the race for the finals has never been hotter,” he said.
“Every match will be crucial, and securing a finals spot is expected to be a tough challenge.
“Six teams this year will qualify for the finals with the top two qualifiers earning a week off in week one of finals.”
ANZAC Round is scheduled for the weekend of April 26th, with Yeronga hosting Kenmore to kick off one of the most poignant rounds on the football calendar on Thursday, April 24th.
Sir Doug Nicholls Round will be celebrated during Rounds 5 and 6.
The highly anticipated 2025 Grand Final is set to be played on Sunday, September 14th.
The 2025 QFA Division 2 South season also promises to deliver plenty of excitement.
Round 1 will kick off on Saturday, April 5th, with a competition bye for the Easter weekend.
2024 Premiers, Coolangatta, have seen a change in leadership, with Pearce Hanley, a former Brisbane Lion and Gold Coast SUN, taking over as Head Coach in 2025, replacing Scott Riordan.
Beenleigh will join the competition after their move from the QFA Division 1 HART Sport Cup, strengthening the league, while Southern Stringrays, the joint team from Byron Bay and Ballina, will not feature this year due to the amalgamation not continuing.
Bell said he expected a tightly contested competition in 2025.
“2024 Minor Premiers, Burleigh, will be after redemption and looking to reclaim the flag this year after a hard-fought loss to Coolangatta in last years final,” he said.
“Carrara will be the team to watch with a new coach and some very handy recruits. Ex-AFL and NEAFL player Brodie Murdoch joins the Saints and will help take them to the next level.
“Like the Division 2 North competition, this year will be tight and with only five spots available in the finals every game will be crucial.”
The finals series will feature five teams over four weeks, starting on August 16th, with the Grand Final set for Saturday, September 6th.
