Nestled in outback Queensland, Jundah is small town about halfway between Longreach and Birdsville, and its school, Jundah State School, is now the home to brand new AFL goal posts.

In a win for not just the school, but the whole community, it's the only available footy oval within the Shire of Barcoo.

While there's no green grass, but instead red dirt, the school oval has recently been graded, fenced and seeded and has had irrigation also put in place so a greener playing surface might not be too far away!

Jundah State School has been running NAB AFL Auskick programs since 2023 and has had more than 50 participants from across the shire travel to Jundah to take part in the program.

The 2025 program will get underway when school returns.

The goal posts have been installed as part of AFL Queensland’s Goal Post Infrastructure Fund which is a partnership between the AFL and Queensland Government.  The fund provides funding to assist local governments, grassroots community Australian football clubs, umpiring organisations and schools to develop AFL facilities across Queensland.
