With practice matches shortly getting underway for the 2025 season, clubs have continued to unveil new recruits as they hit the ground across pre-season training.

The Hornets QAFLW squad has continued to go from strength to strength, with Kristen Tyquin and Katie Day returning to Queensland, calling Aspley home in 2025.

Day returns to the Bond University QAFLW where she previously played at Wilston Grange and was part of UQ’s 2022 Premiership side. Day played 12 games for Collingwood’s VFLW team in 2024, where she took out the clubs Best and Fairest.

Tyquin has been a teammate with Day across their time at UQ and Wilston Grange, and also spent 2024 at Collingwood’s VFLW program playing three games.

Wilston Grange have announced two young recruits, with Jesh Morgan and Sam McDonald signing with the Gorillas.

Morgan, the 2022 QAFL Colts Best and Fairest winner, spent last season aligned to Southport’s VFL squad playing 16 QAFL matches with Labrador and is one of the competitions most exciting young talents.

McDonald also adds an injection of youth, having spent the 2024 season with the GWV Rebels in the Coates Talent League where he played 16 matches including the Grand Final, whilst also debuting at senior level in the Ballarat Football Netball League.

Southport have announced the signing of four new recruits, including Olivia Meagher, Tyla Crabtree, Bindi Crabtree and Olivia Robinson to their QAFLW program.

Meagher has spent time in the VFLW at both Box Hill and Collingwood, before moving to Townsville playing for Thuringowa in 2023 and 2024 where she was also part of the North Queensland Representative side both years.

The Crabtree sisters, head to Fankhauser Reserve after spending the 2024 season as part of the GWV Rebels program in the Coates Talent League with Tyla featuring at VFLW level with Essendon as well.

Robinson heads to Southport from Mornington FNC in the MPFNL, and has been aligned to the Southern Saints VFLW program playing 14 VFLW games over the past three seasons.

This injection of talent bolsters an already impressive list, making the defending premiers an ominous threat for the rest of the competition.
