A GROUP of AFL North Coast’s older juniors are set to be put through their paces over the summer months with the Northern Heat Development Program.
The program will be returning across the summer of 2026-27 with the focus to again be on individual development of skills, fitness, and footy IQ.
This summer's program will be for talented players born in 2010 and 2011 with both boys and girls attending training sessions under the watchful eye of qualified coaches to provide a variety of new training techniques and a Strength & Conditioning (S&C) specialist.
In addition to the squad training sessions, players will also be given individual running and strength and conditioning programs to complete over the Christmas/New Year period.
Community Football and Competition Manager for Northern NSW, Brad Greenshields, Manager, said that the Northern Heat program has a strong reputation for being a means for boys and girls to help progress to a higher level of footy.
“The Development Program's focus is on preparing players to take the next step within footy, whether that be stepping up an age group, moving into open age footy, or progressing to higher level honours," Greenshields said.
“This group of the most talented players from across the North Coast and North West are in for a long hot summer of both group training sessions and individual fitness work as the program prepares them to take the next step in their footy pathway.”
