The round begins with a highly-anticipated encounter between the Tiwi Bombers and Nightcliff. The Bombers looked irresistible in last weekend’s win over Palmerston over on the Islands. Jelena Tipungwuti was dangerous up forward with three goals while Maria Rioli and Kimberley Cunningham chipped in with two each.

Nightcliff have only had the one blemish all season and were dominant in last weekend’s 80-point drubbing of Southern Districts. Tully Vlahovic, Sally Evans and Gabrielle Deller all starred while the competition’s leading goal-kicker Cassie McWilliam contributed three majors.

Southern Districts will be looking for an improved effort against the Darwin Buffettes after a tough day at the office last weekend. The Crocs were comprehensively outplayed by an impressive Nightcliff team last week and will look to produce a more competitive showing.

Darwin will enter as favourites and will be confident of getting the job done again after showing some positive signs against St Marys last weekend. The Buffettes won the Round 5 encounter between these two teams and will hoping to do the same tomorrow afternoon.

Fifth-placed Palmerston will face a big test in the ladder leaders PINT tomorrow afternoon. PINT are fresh off the bye last weekend, and a 126-point win over Wanderers a fortnight ago, so the clash tomorrow will present stronger competition.

The Magpies have lost three in a row and are hanging on to that fifth spot for dear life. There has been some positive moments for the Black and White over the last month or so, but it will take more than that to topple the PINT juggernaut.

Sunday evening’s game between Wanderers and St Marys presents as an opportunity for a percentage-boosting win for the Saints. The Green and Gold have won six games in a row and Ahlee Penry and Keyshia Matenga featured prominently in last weekend’s win over the Darwin Buffettes in wet conditions.

For the Eagles, this game will be about the little wins – strong passages of play and the continued development of some of their inexperienced players. Wanderers have not registered a goal in three weeks, so getting the scoreboard ticking over will be a focus.
