Palmerston hosts Nightcliff at Cazalys Oval in what shapes as the match of the round in Round 8 of the 2024/25 TIO NTFL season. Both teams are coming off losses, with the Tigers narrowly falling to PINT. Haley Jones, Gabrielle Dellar, and Eliza Hand stood out, while Cassie McWilliam was their only multiple goal scorer.
Meanwhile, despite strong performances from Ella Ward, Jade Moir, and Tabitha May, the Magpies were outclassed by St Marys. Palmerston sit in fourth position, a game behind the Tigers, so a win here will be crucial to the team’s top-three chances.
St Marys are hitting their stride, highlighted by last weekend’s commanding 44-point win over Palmerston. Box Hill VFLW star Nadia von Bertouch shone in her season debut, with Janet Baird and Billie Byers continuing their excellent form.
Coming off a bye, the fresh-legged Districts face an uphill battle against the in-form Saints. After winning their opening two games of the season, the Crocs have lost their past four so they will be desperately searching for a return to form. Alicia Myers, Maddi Shaw and Megan Craufurd were top performers in the Crocs’ loss to Palmerston a fortnight ago.
The Buffettes will look to carry the momentum from their dominant 118-point victory over Wanderers into Saturday night’s clash, while Waratah, still searching for their first win of the season, will see this as a potential opportunity to turn their fortunes around.
Buffettes champion Molly Althouse was dominant last week while Roxy Beuzeville and India Barker also performed well. Kiara Henry was a dangerous target up forward all night and finished with a game-high four goals.
Waratah will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 59-point loss to the Tiwi Bombers last weekend. Lilly Rydon, Madeleine Jeans and Sheree Moore were the Warriors’ best performers.
PINT appear poised for a percentage-boosting win over Wanderers on Saturday night. The Queenants remain undefeated, though some of their wins have been hard-fought, with three decided by under ten points. Reni Hicks, Jasmyn Hewett, and Casey Morris were standouts in last week’s victory over Nightcliff.
It has been another difficult season for Wanderers, but credit must be given to the group for continuing to front up week after week.
