Tiwi Bombers will host Palmerston in a home game at Stanley Tipiloura Oval at Wurrumiyanga in Round 9 of the 2024/25 TIO NTFL season. Both teams are currently in the top-five, but with the sixth-placed Buffaloes hitting form, a win here is important. Tiwi are coming off the bye and a commanding win over Waratah a fortnight ago, while the Magpies have suffered two big losses in a row.
The Bombers will need to curb the influence of Palmerston gun Ella Ward, who has clearly been one of her team’s standout performers all season, having been named among the best players in every game.
St Marys will be looking to make it six wins on the trot when they take on the Darwin Buffettes at TIO Stadium tomorrow.
It was another starring performance last weekend from gun recruit Nadia von Bertouch, while Billie Byers and Ciaralii Parnell were also dominant in the win over Southern Districts. Shakaila Gardiner-Dunn is in good form up forward with 15 goals from her eight games, while Jamie Bryant and Tori Groves-Little also produced strong performances against the Crocs.
The Buffettes got the points last week against Waratah in a match that was soured by the devastating injury to midfield star Tayla Hart-Aluni. The double-blues will want to rally around their injured star player and produced a spirited performance for her.
Waratah will see its clash against Wanderers on Saturday night as a prime opportunity to notch their first win of the season and will enter this game as strong favourites. Despite strong performances all season from Brittany Daly, Erin Hunt and Ruby O’Dwyer, the Warriors are yet to breakthrough for that elusive first win.
Wanderers’ struggles over the past two seasons have been well-documented, and last week’s 126-point loss to PINT was tough going. But they will be buoyed by the performances of Jizelle Fejo, Virginia Cardona and Celina Lloyd.
On Sunday, Nightcliff will look to continue its winning ways in a clash against Southern Districts. The Tigers have only had one blemish all season and are coming off a comprehensive victory over Palmerston last week. They will be looking to achieve the same outcome on Sunday and will enter the contest as strong favourites with players like Gabrielle Deller and Christy Landwehr in terrific form.
The Crocs have struggled over the past month, but with players like Maddi Shaw, Krystal Russell and Ashlee Walsh in strong form, there is room for optimism.
