There has continued to be plenty of movement into the QAFL and Bond University QAFLW, with numerous clubs announcing signings across the Christmas break.

Aspley have signed local duo Emily Keehn (Wilston Grange) and Georgia Smith (Sandgate) to their QAFLW squad.

Formerly at Wilston Grange, Smith has QAFLW experience under her belt and was a crucial part of Sandgate’s dominant 2024 QFAW Division 1 campaign which also featured a South Queensland representative appearance.

Keehn has spent the last four seasons with Wilston Grange’s QAFLW program and adds some crucial height to the Hornets group.

The Hornet’s QAFL program has also signed Rory Tarlinton, with the North Queenslander having played in Mackay, Townsville and Cairns over his junior and senior journey. Tarlinton also represented North Queensland in 2024, and was part of the North Cairns Grand Final team last season.

Broadbeach have lured a number of former players back to the club, with Jack O’Shea, Ryan Dienjes, Darcy Dienjes and Liam Nelson all returning to the Cats in 2025.

Nelson, arguably their biggest returning player, will re-join the Cats after two seasons in the Wimmera Football Netball League with Southern Mallee, in Western Victoria. Nelson was awarded the Joe Grant medal as part of the Cats 2021 QAFL premiership and is a welcome addition to their 2025 campaign.

O’Shea spent time with both Bond University and South Cairns in 2024, however is nearing 100 games for the Cats and with 30 games of NEAFL experience at Southport is a valuable returning player.

The Dienjes brothers will make the move back to Broadbeach from Bond University, and whilst not having played with the Cats for a number of seasons, both return with over 100 games for the club providing a great level of experience into the squad.

There has been plenty of movement at Coorparoo, with the Kings announcing a number of key signings as they continue the preparations towards their QAFL entry.

Kyle Dunkley headlines the list of new recruits, with the ex-Melbourne Demon calling Giffin Park home in 2025 after committing fully to the QAFL following two seasons on Brisbane’s VFL list. With five AFL games and 60 at VFL level, his addition is a huge coup for the Kings and their QAFL elevation.

The Kings have also announced the signing of Nathan Dowsett, currently playing with Palmerston in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL), with the key defender making the move from Bentleigh in the Southern Football Netball League (SFNL) in Victoria.

Harvey Hurd will also join Coorparoo, with the 19-year-old making the move to Brisbane after playing two seasons in the Tasmanian State League (TSL) Development League with Clarence, with fellow TSL player Sam Cowley making the move from Launceston.

Brodie Townsend has also put pen to paper with the Kings for 2025, with the ruckman arriving from the Mildura Demons.

Kloe McElhinney will join the Kings QAFLW program, with the former Murray Bushranger (Coates League) making the move to Queensland. McElhinney will join Coorparoo at the conclusion of the NTFL season, where she is currently enjoying a dominant season with Tracy Village in the NTFL Women Division 1 competition.

Labrador have announced a trio of key signings, with Archie Grant making the move from Morwell FNC in the Gippsland League, and the return of Luke Coombes and Cade Gregory after a season interstate with Blackburn in the Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

The return of Coombes and Gregory provides a great boost of talent and youth, with the 22-year-olds providing over 80 games of QAFL senior experience back into the Tigers lineup.

Maroochydore announced the signing of Tasmanian Connor Riethoff, from Longford FC. Riethoff has TSL experience with Launceston FC, also playing in the 2019 NAB League season with the Tasmanian Devils, and will provide an injection of youth to the Roos lineup.

Moreton Bay welcomes Eloise O’Connor from Aspley in 2025, with the 29 year old injecting some high-level experience to the Lions QAFLW squad. O’Connor has 56 games of QAFLW/VFLW under her belt and has an AFL Townsville premiership with Hermit Park as well.

Palm Beach Currumbin have landed arguably the biggest name of the 2024-25 off season, with 197 game AFL retiree Levi Casboult headed to Salk Oval. The former Blue and SUN will provide the Lions a huge on and off-field presence, with the key forward set to pose a huge threat to the QAFL in 2025. Booting over 200 goals in the AFL, Casboult played his last game for the Gold Coast SUNS in 2024, electing to stay in Queensland post his AFL career in a major coup for the club and the competition.

Rhys King will also join Pam Beach Currumbin this season, with the former Southport Shark returning to Queensland after two years with Albury in the Oven’s and Murray League making him a great addition to the Lions 2025 campaign.

Wilston Grange have announced the signing of a trio for their QAFL program, headed up by Nelson Lane who will head to Hickey Park at the conclusion of the NTFL season where he is currently playing for Nightcliff. Lane has experience at VFL level, and has played across the EFNL and NFNL in Victoria over the past few seasons.

Lane is joined by EFNL young gun, Tyler Belloni, with the 21 year old making the move from South Croydon FC as well as Across The Waves junior Chase Martin, with the Brisbane Lions Academy product headed south for the 2025 season.

The Gorilla’s have also landed two key signings for their QAFLW squad, with Mia Briedis and Grace Osbourne, both from Collingwood’s VFLW program set to inject a huge amount of talent and experience into Hickey Park.

Briedis was a part of Oak Park’s 2024 EDFL premiership, booting 10 goals across the 2024 season when not playing with the Magpies. Osbourne, aligned to the Kew Football Club in the VAFA, represented the VAFA against the Perth Football League in their 2024 representative fixture.

Yeronga have secured three new recruits, with Jay Struhs, Olivia Bell and Felicity Le set to don the Devils jumper in 2025.

Struhs returns to the QAFLW after some time away, most recently playing with Southport in 2022 as part of their reserves premiership team, and will add a highly valuable amount of experience to the young group.

Bell joins Yeronga from Sherwood’s QFAW Division 1 program, where she’s been a valuable part of a successful Magpies outfit for a number of years.
