Woodcrest State College based in Springfield, Ipswich has become the first school in Queensland to reach Hall of Fame status, in the AFL Schools Loyalty program and is now recognised as the most engaged AFL school in the State.
The recognition comes as part of the AFL Schools Loyalty Program, which celebrates schools demonstrating consistent, high quality participation in AFL programs, competitions and promotions.
From prep to Year 12, Woodcrest State College offers a comprehensive AFL experience for students of all ages. Whether it is through in class learning, training school teams, interschool competitions or community engagement, AFL is a cornerstone of the school.
Woodcrest State College is one of just 13 schools that are endorsed as an AFL Queensland Schools Excellence and the Hall of Fame status adds to the ever-growing footy opportunities at the school.
Jeff Neumann, AFL Queensland's Participation and Programs Manager - Schools, Inclusion and Diversity, congratulated the school on their well-deserved recognition.
“This is incredible milestone for Woodcrest State College, they’ve built a genuine football pathway from Prep to Year 12," Neumann said.
“The work of dedicated staff has provided other schools with the blueprint to create long term connection to footy and we look forward to seeing other schools reach the Hall of Fame status from across the state.”
