Across the men's and women's competitions, the weekend's action featured strong team performances, decisive momentum swings and important victories that could prove crucial in the final weeks of the season. Let's take a dive into all the action!
First Grade Women
Ainslie vs Tuggeranong
The day's action at Alan Ray Oval began with Ainslie's women overcoming an early challenge from Tuggeranong Valley to record a 42-point victory, 10.10 (70) to 4.4 (28).
The Valley made a promising start and took a four-point lead into the first break, but Ainslie gradually worked its way into the contest through the second quarter before taking control after half-time. The Tricolours' ability to win territory and generate sustained attacking pressure proved decisive as they piled on seven goals across the final three quarters.
A major highlight of the morning was a milestone achievement for Karina Wells-Demant, who kicked five goals while bringing up her 700th career goal. The achievement adds another remarkable chapter to one of community football's outstanding careers and provided a memorable moment for the Ainslie faithful at Alan Ray Oval as the Tricolours turned a quarter-time deficit into a commanding victory.
Tuggeranong Valley continued to compete strongly and remained committed around the contest, but Ainslie's depth and consistency allowed the home side to steadily increase the advantage as the game progressed.
Indie Champion, Maddison Holloway, Shannon Brown, Claudia Williver, Mia Cooper and Karina Wells-Demant featured among Ainslie's best players. For Tuggeranong Valley, Coco Duggan, Morgan Stevens, Jade Miller, Kate Patton, Alana Fraser and Anne-Maree Ghirardello were recognised for their efforts.
Eastlake vs Belconnen
The morning fixture at EPC Solar Park saw Belconnen claim an important away victory over Eastlake, 7.7 (49) to 4.4 (28).
The Magpies set the tone early and established a six-point quarter-time lead before extending the margin at every change. Eastlake remained within reach throughout much of the contest and defended strongly, particularly during the third quarter when neither side managed a major score.
Belconnen's consistency around stoppages and ability to convert opportunities ultimately proved the difference. The Magpies maintained composure during Eastlake's periods of pressure before finishing the game strongly to secure an important win.
Belconnen's ability to maintain control throughout the contest was highlighted by the performance of Grace Read, who accumulated 25 disposals and laid 10 tackles on her way to 108 KVA points. Read's work rate around the contest and defensive pressure were key factors in helping the Magpies extend their advantage across the afternoon.
Hannah Pound, Jorja Simpson, Hannah Williams, Grace Read, Emma Zouch and Makayla Patton were among Belconnen's standout performers. Eastlake's best included Laura Kearney, Ella Foster, Madeline Convery, Elizabeth Gower, Iris Rangiah and Indira Peak, who all made valuable contributions in a competitive performance.
Batemans Bay vs Queanbeyan
The women's fixture at Monarch Park saw Queanbeyan deliver one of the strongest performances of the round, defeating Batemans Bay 11.14 (80) to 2.2 (14).
The Tigers controlled the game from the outset, opening with a three-goal first quarter before extending their lead through the middle stages. Batemans Bay continued to compete and worked hard to generate opportunities, but Queanbeyan's ability to control possession and create scoring chances proved difficult to contain.
A six-goal final quarter highlighted the Tigers' attacking strength and allowed them to finish the afternoon strongly, underlining their credentials as the competition enters its closing rounds.
Jayde Hamilton, Jessica Stramandinoli, Emma Dunn, Anita Manning, Sidonie Carroll and Jade Paterson led the way for Queanbeyan. Batemans Bay received strong contributions from Isla Judd, Gabrielle Johnson, Zara Neil, Brodie White and Amy White, who continued to compete throughout the contest.
First Grade Men
Ainslie vs Tuggeranong
Following the women's contest at Alan Ray Oval, Ainslie completed a successful day on home turf with a 35-point victory over Tuggeranong Valley, 16.11 (107) to 10.12 (72).
The Tricolours made a fast start, opening a 17-point advantage at quarter time before extending the margin to 20 points by the main break. Tuggeranong Valley responded strongly and remained within striking distance throughout the afternoon, producing periods of quality football that ensured the contest remained competitive deep into the second half.
Ainslie's midfield and forward connection was led by Jack Powell, who delivered one of the competition's standout individual performances of the round. Powell amassed 30 disposals, kicked five goals and finished with 164 KVA points, providing a constant presence around the contest while also making a significant impact on the scoreboard.
While the Valley worked hard to close the gap after half-time, the Tricolours continually found answers when momentum began to shift, maintaining control through the final quarter to secure another valuable four premiership points.
Joe Bishop, Jack Powell, Thomas Faul, Cameron Terry, Matthew McGrory and Jack Firns led the way for Ainslie. Tuggeranong Valley received strong contributions from Blake Walker, Joe Carroll, Noah Budd, Sam Emery, Oliver Synnott and Tyler Donlan in a determined performance.
Eastlake vs Belconnen
Later in the day at EPC Solar Park, Eastlake produced a commanding performance to defeat Belconnen by 60 points, 14.16 (100) to 6.4 (40).
The Demons seized control from the opening bounce, kicking five goals in the first quarter while restricting the Magpies to a single major. That early advantage laid the foundation for the rest of the afternoon as Eastlake's pressure around the contest and efficiency moving forward consistently generated scoreboard opportunities.
Much of Eastlake's dominance stemmed from the work of Alex Smout, who compiled a remarkable 43 disposals and eight marks to finish with 145 KVA points. Smout's ability to win possession and drive the Demons forward repeatedly helped establish the field position and ball movement that underpinned the victory.
Belconnen continued to battle throughout the four quarters and showed resilience despite the scoreboard pressure, but Eastlake's ability to convert repeat entries inside 50 ensured the margin continued to grow across the second and third terms before the Demons finished strongly.
James Roberts, Angus Jones, Luke Morfoot, Will Brearley, Alex Smout and Shae Darcy were recognised among Eastlake's best performers. For the Magpies, Jack Baker, Riley Hansen, Zac Smith, Addie Vincent, Rohan Imhoff and Jacob Taylor continued to compete strongly and were rewarded with recognition among Belconnen's best.
Batemans Bay vs Queanbeyan
The afternoon concluded at Monarch Park with Queanbeyan producing a polished four-quarter performance against Batemans Bay, recording a 12.17 (89) to 4.11 (35) victory.
The Tigers established an early lead and steadily built on it throughout the afternoon. A dominant second quarter helped open up a 33-point half-time advantage, and Queanbeyan maintained control after the main break through disciplined ball movement and strong defensive structure.
Aidan Bowyer played a pivotal role in the Tigers' performance, producing an outstanding all-round display with 29 disposals, 27 hit-outs and 125 KVA points. His influence both at stoppages and around the ground gave Queanbeyan a consistent platform from which to launch attacks and maintain control of the contest.
While Batemans Bay remained competitive and continued to create opportunities, the Tigers' ability to generate repeat entries and convert at key moments allowed them to gradually extend the margin.
Caden Spinks, Jack Carroll-Tape, Bailee Gilbert, Aidan Bowyer, Jaden Gilheany and Lachlan Moresi were among Queanbeyan's most influential contributors. Batemans Bay's best included Michael Thane, James Collins, Nathan Blackburn, Kyle O'Malley, Rex Lee and Jacob Pike.
Round 14 further tightened the race for positions in finals, with clubs continuing to build momentum as the season enters its decisive phase. Ainslie maintained its strong position across both competitions, while Eastlake Men, Belconnen Men and both Queanbeyan teams secured important victories that could prove significant in the final ladder calculations.
