The 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup Tour has enjoyed a memorable few days in Sydney in Week 2 of its journey across Australia, bringing the spirit of the game to fans across New South Wales.

Sydney Swans great Michael O’Loughlin launched the Sydney leg of the tour by climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge with the Premiership Cup in a spectacular moment that set the tone for a special few days.

The Cup made its way to the Blacktown Sports Centre for the AFL Sydney Finals on Saturday, before joining the AFLW Premiership Cup on Monday night for the annual Phelan and Mostyn Medal presentation event, where fans and players came together to celebrate the best of NSW football.

The Cup will make its way to Canberra today to visit locals before heading to regional Victoria tomorrow, with stops in Geelong and Ballarat scheduled later this week.

O’Loughlin, a 303-game player for the Sydney Swans and member of the club’s 2005 Premiership side, said it was a privilege to help kick off the Cup’s time in Sydney.

“It was incredible to take the Premiership Cup up on the Harbour Bridge on beautiful Gadigal land and share that moment with the city,” O’Loughlin said.

“Being able to see the Cup up close is a really special experience – for young boys and girls it can spark that dream of one day lifting it at the MCG. I was fortunate to do that in 2005, and to now see communities and fans across the country get the chance to touch it, feel it, and be inspired by it makes this tour so worthwhile.”

The Cup’s journey through NSW and ACT was part of its history-making tour of every state and territory ahead of the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final.
