Tuesday 2 September, Gungahlin
The 2025 Senior Schools Cup reaches its decider on Tuesday in Gungahlin, with St Ignatius’ Riverview taking on Xavier Catholic College.
Riverview enters the match as the reigning champions and recently secured another title in the Independent Schools Competition. They’ll be hungry to defend their crown and go back-to-back in the state decider.
Standing in their way is Xavier Catholic College, who booked their spot in the final after a strong performance in the State Final Qualifier back in June at Lavington.
With momentum on their side and a history of producing quality footballers, Xavier will be confident of causing an upset.

Junior Schools Cup – State Final
Wednesday 3 September, Belconnen
For the first time, the Junior Schools Cup (JSC) State Final will be held in Canberra, with Holt Grounds in Belconnen set to host Wednesday’s blockbuster event.
The JSC brings together the best young footballers from across the state, with teams representing Sydney, Albury, the MIA, ACT/South Coast, and Riverina regions in both boys’ and girls’ competitions.
Last year’s Girls champions, Xavier Catholic College, return to defend their title, while Waverley College are shaping as a team to watch following their dominant run in the Independent Schools Competition, where they claimed both the Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 Division 1 Grand Finals.
With school pride and the next generation of talent on display, this year’s Junior Schools Cup is set to deliver a thrilling day of footy action.
