Noosa has recorded one of their biggest victories in upsetting reigning premier Redland-Victoria Point while the other results basically went to script in round six of the TPIL Lawyers QAFL.

Last week it was the Lions (Palm Beach-Currumbin) that stopped the Sharks and this week it was the other jungle variety the Noosa Tigers that savaged RVP by 60 points 16.16.112 to 7.10.52. And it was in Shark territory at Totally Workwear Park!

Noosa were fresh off a bye and played like it early taking it up to the home team although it was a low scoring first term with only a goal apiece. That trend continued in the second as the visitors extended the lead to 15-points at the main break outscoring their opponents three goals to just one.

The Sharks supporters were no doubt waiting for RVP to turn it on in the premiership quarter, but they were left disappointed and stunned as Noosa opened up a 41-point margin and it could have been more as they scored 5.6 to just 1.4.

The Tigers though were only just warming up and saved their best till the final term where they blitzed the reigning premiers with a seven-goal burst while RVP responded with only four of their own.

In a ‘red letter day’ for the Sunshine Coasters, they had nine individual goalkickers with the irrepressible and newly VFL-listed Brisbane Lion Sam Tilley (30 disposals) booting three along with his Lion and Tiger teammate Curtis McCarthy. Sam Willoughby (10 clearances), Billy Shanks with 30 possessions figured strongly in the win, while Tom McNally, Tate Winter and Rhys Free also listed among the best.

For the Sharks, Hammelmann still managed four of his teams seven goals to still be a factor up forward while Alex Sexton, Campbell Aston, Scott Miller and Taj Bromwich were among there stats leaders.

The back-to-back defeats sending RVP down to seventh on the ladder with three wins and now three losses.

As expected with the top of the ladder playing the bottom half, there were some percentage boosting victories on the weekend.

The next closest to the above contest was at Automall Aspley Oval where Morningside continued on from last week with a comfortable 64-point win over the Hornets. The margin was only nine points to the visitors at quarter-time, but the Panthers then piled on a further 16 majors to only seven to consolidate their top four position.

Jake Howson among the goals this week with four along with the prolific disposalist Garrett Mcdonagh also getting his share, while Shaquille McLeod chipped in with three.

Aspley’s Ryan Bastinac with another impressive individual effort with two goals among his 18 possessions and eight clearances. Harry Grills, Luke Hodoniczky and Jordan Taylor prominent for the home side.

Surfers Paradise continued their unbeaten run having little trouble disposing of Wilston Grange at Benowa by 72 points, 19.20.132 to 8.14.62.

Forwards Joshua Minogue bagged six goals and youngster Kane Gordon four (for the second successive week) and Lucas Snowball with three. The Demons had a staggering 130 more disposals led by Ben Woodburn with 40 and David Swallow 33.

Maroochydore maintained their advantage on top of the ladder thumping Sherwood by 90 points. The trio of Aaron Wilson (seven goals), Hugo Papst (three) and Koby Young (two) continuing their great form in front of goals and sitting right behind Hammelamnn in the Ray Hughson Medal. The Roos midfield consisting of Sam McLachlan, Benjamin Thomas, Lachlan O'Keefe and Hunter Moore again, getting plenty of the ball.

Likewise, Palm Beach-Currumbin backing up from last week refused to be complacent especially after half-time against Coorparoo who are yet to win at home after three attempts this season.  The Lions cruising to an 86-pointy victory with 10 individual goal-kickers led by Levi Casboult, Liam O'Brien and Tom Simpson (46 possessions) with three each.

Labrador rounded out the one-way traffic trouncing Mt. Gravatt by 109-points and ensuring Cooke-Murphy was a fortress for the Tigers, restricting the Vultures to just one goal to go with their eight behinds. Aiden Fyfe among the goals again kicking four with Harry Law and Zak Marshall bagging three each.

Broadbeach had the ‘rest’ and looking ahead to next week, the Cats have a quick renewal with Labrador after the two teams met in round one. The match of the day will also be a big ‘test’ but appears to be Noosa back at home and hosting Surfers Paradise, while at the other end of the ladder Mt Gravatt and Wilston Grange will be priming themselves for a needed victory.
