Footy is set to roar back across the Darling Downs, with the 2026 Senior Men’s Allied Cup fixture now officially released, giving clubs, players and supporters the chance to lock in key dates and start counting down to Round 1.

Round 1 will be played as a split round, with the season opening on Saturday, 18 April, before a standalone ANZAC Day fixture on Saturday, 25 April.

The split round will see clubs take to the field on 18 April, while Warwick Redbacks will host Toowoomba Tigers on ANZAC Day (25 April) in a marquee, standalone clash, a significant occasion on the local footy calendar that will bring the community together to recognise and reflect.

With pre-season now well underway, clubs across the region have been hard at work recruiting, building depth, and strengthening coaching and support staff, all with one goal in mind: building momentum early and peaking when it matters most.

Darling Downs Regional Queensland Lead, Jana Anderson, said the fixture release marked a major milestone for the season and was a boost for clubs and communities.

“The release of the Senior Men’s fixture is always an exciting moment, it turns months of planning into something real that clubs and supporters can look forward to,” she said.

“Having Round 1 as a split round creates a great build-up, and the standalone ANZAC Day match in Warwick will be a special day for both clubs and the wider community.”

Anderson said the work happening across clubs over summer would show early in the season.

“Our clubs have put in an enormous amount of work over the off-season, not just on the track but behind the scenes as well,” she said.

“The fixture helps everyone plan, from players and coaches, to volunteers, sponsors and families who make our game possible. We’re looking forward to a season full of great footy and strong community moments.”

Supporters are encouraged to keep an eye on the schedule for special rounds and community celebrations, where clubs will recognise and highlight the people and stories that make local football so important.
