Top of the table Wilston Grange travel to Southport and Morningside host Bond Uni to headline Bond University QAFLW Round Four.

SOUTHPORT v WILSTON GRANGE 1.30pm Fankhauser Reserve

Southport suffered a rare loss at home to Morningside in Round Two so will be on guard for the undefeated ladder leaders Wilston Grange. The Sharks resumed 'normal programming' against University of Queensland last week with a comfortable victory and would be eagerly awaiting this crucial test as they look to return to the top of the perch. Olivia Meagher has been missed in recent times and Southport will be keen to have her menacing best in front of the goals for this one.

The Gorillas have made the competition sit up and take notice with their devastating form in the opening three rounds. The only team to score over 100 points the first two weeks then recorded one of their most significant wins over 2025 grand finalists Morningside in a thrilling encounter last week. The Gorillas have shored up an already talented roster to mix it with the stronger clubs and now have a number of options for scoring goals - Tshinta Kendall, Zimmorlei Farquharson, Tia Magarry and Summer Hamilton to name a few. Saturday will provide a further indicator as to how far they have come.

This match follows the early start for the Southport VFL Men’s team so it is worthy of a big attendance.

MORNINGSIDE v BOND UNIVERSITY 4.45PM Jack Esplen Oval

Morningside's tough start to the season continues when they host Bond University for their first home game of the season. Round One they cleared the cobwebs with an easy win, but since have had the nail-biting away victory over Southport to avenge last year’s Grand Final then last week were toppled by the ladder leading Wilston Grange.

Bond University also had a couple of big wins to start the season but came undone at home to undefeated Coorparoo last week.
They only met once in 2025 (Round Nine) with the Panthers securing an away win on the Gold Coast by 13 points. They avoided each other in the finals so entering this intriguing clash, a crucial result awaits to keep pace with the top four.

COORPAROO v MAROOCHYDORE 4.45PM Giffin Park

A double header for both these clubs with the men playing in the earlier matches so there should be plenty of support for this contest. Coorparoo jumped out of the blocks with an impressive display at Moreton Bay in round one, battled hard to overcome rivals Aspley, then last week had a super win over Bond University to remain undefeated. The extra recruiting during the pre-season paying dividends early for the Kings who are looking at lofty heights again this year.

Maroochydore fully deserved to break through for their first win of the season last week. Despite losing their opening two rounds they had acquitted themselves well against stronger opposition and showed they can put scores on the board. The Kings will be a tough test but a rejuvenated football program has breathed new life into this group and this match will provide an interesting measuring stick.

ASPLEY v MORETON BAY 1pm South Pine Sporting Complex (Brendale) Oval 1

Following a shaky start with a big loss against Bond University, Aspley too have bounced back by testing Coorparoo in a creditable defeat, then scoring that much needed win against newcomers Broadbeach last week. Yes, the Hornets will be favourites here, but bigger tests are around the corner so game plans will be keenly formulated.

Moreton Bay has had a tough start to the year and appeared to have learned from the first two weeks with an improved display in kicking a couple of goals in the loss to Maroochydore last week. Another tough encounter away from home this week but the Lions continue to grow and develop.

BROADBEACH v UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND 4.45pm Neptune Homes Oval

Broadbeach are riding a steep learning curve in the first three rounds of their QAFLW debut season including playing against the reigning premier Southport and more experienced opposition. The Cats continue those lessons on Saturday against UQ who also have had to contend with both of last year's grand finalists in recent weeks. However, the Red Lionesses had a confidence boosting win two weeks ago and can level the win/loss ratio in this contest, while Broadbeach will be hoping for more scoring opportunities at home.
