School Competition FAQ's
For Parents & Participants
Registration
No. A parent or guardian creates the PlayHQ account and adds the student as a dependent.
Yes. Using the same PlayHQ Account (profile) ensures participation records, statistics and concussion history carry across both school and community football.
A participant's PlayHQ Account (profile) remains with the individual, not the school. When registering at a new school, families should use the existing PlayHQ Account to maintain participation history and safety records.
Use the Forgot Password function before creating a new account. If the issue cannot be resolved, contact schools@afl.com.au for assistance. Creating a new account may result in duplicate profiles and impact participation records and safety features.
Duplicate profiles can affect participation records, statistics and concussion management functionality. If a duplicate profile is identified, stop creating additional accounts and contact schools@afl.com.au for assistance.
Competition levies, where applicable, are determined by the competition and collected during the registration process.
Registration can be completed on any desktop or laptop computer. The AFL Play App is optional but recommended for fixtures, results, venue information and notifications.
Match Day
No. The AFL Play App is optional. However, it provides easy access to fixtures, results, venue details, team information and notifications.
Families who have downloaded the AFL Play App and enabled notifications can receive updates regarding fixture changes, venue changes and weather-related cancellations.
Yes. Fixtures, results, ladders and team information can be accessed through the AFL Play App and other competition channels, depending on competition settings.
Participants and parents/guardians can manage profile visibility settings. Visibility of player information and statistics may vary depending on privacy preferences and competition configuration.
Safety
Competition Management determines who is responsible for recording concussion incidents and ensures incidents are recorded as soon as practical after notification.
No. Concussion restrictions can only be removed by authorised administrators following the required return-to-play process and supporting documentation.
If the participant uses the same PlayHQ Account across both school and community football, the ineligibility status will automatically transfer between competitions.
No. Concussion information is only visible to authorised administrators while an incident is active. After a participant returns to play, the information is only visible to the participant and their parent or guardian.
Using the same account ensures participation records, statistics and important safety measures, including concussion management, remain connected across both school and community football.
