AFL Nines at Byron

Competition

Does your school love AFL Nines? Show us how!

To celebrate World Teachers Day on Friday 25th October, AFL Schools is offering an incredible prize for the school that can demonstrate that they are the best AFL Nines school in Australia!

In order to win, your school firstly needs to host a Staff v Students game of AFL Nines, and then submit an entry via email to schools@afl.com.au that demonstrates in your most creative way why you are the best AFL Nines school in Australia!

Entries can be in any format that can be emailed, i.e. written, poster, video, mural, song or dance! Think about how you can make the event as engaging as possible; outfits & uniforms, crowd involvement, team chants and community integration.

The winning school will receive a $1,000 voucher to the AFL Schools Shop, and a special AFL Clinic including a visit from an AFL/AFLW player.

The winning teacher becomes the captain for a ‘Teacher Team’ that will participate in the AFL Nines at Byron event on Friday 25th & Saturday 26th October.

The captain is responsible for assembling a team of 12 teachers (6 male & 6 female), to represent AFL Schools in the Mixed Division, with all teachers receiving return flights to Byron Bay and 2 x nights’ accommodation.

A $450 CRT Coverage payment will be made for each teachers school for Friday 25th October, allowing them to fund a replacement teacher.

Teachers participating will also have access to a Professional Learning session run by AFL Schools on Friday 25th October at the event.

Your Staff v Students AFL Nines game must take place in Term 3 prior to Friday 20th August.

Competition entries will close at 5:00pm AEST, Friday 30th August.

Teacher submitting the entry must be an AFL Schools Member.

Staff v Student game must involve students in Year 7 – 12, and follow AFL Nines rules.

The selected winning entry will be at the sole discretion of the AFL Schools team.

Teachers selected to play in the ‘Teacher Team’ don’t have to be from the same school as the winning entry, but must currently be an active teacher at an Australian school.

Once team members are confirmed, they will be required to register their details on Play HQ as part of event parameters.

Full Terms and Conditions can be viewed here.

Please reach out to schools@afl.com.au if you have any questions about the competition.
