Over the past weekend, only the premier leagues in the NTFA resumed action as representative sides from the NWFL and SFL premier leagues faced off at Dial Park.
NTFA Premier League - Deloraine vs Scottsdale
In the north, a double-header between Deloraine and Scottsdale’s senior men’s and women’s sides took place at the former’s home ground.
The women’s game kicked off first, with neither team able to register a major in the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, the hosts kicked two goals to one and took a six-point lead into the main break.
Both Deloraine and Scottsdale kicked a goal apiece in the third term, however the Roos were able to extend their lead out to 10 points at the final break.
Ultimately, Deloraine were too strong, notching three goals in the final quarter to win 6.8 (44) to 2.4 (16).
Alex Whitehead (eight clearances, nine tackles, 32 disposals) and Lauren Stevenson (11 clearances, 31 disposals) were instrumental for the Roos in a hard-fought victory.
Meanwhile, Dearne Krushka (nine rebound inside-50s, 12 clearances, 38 disposals) and Sophie Harrison (nine rebound inside-50s, 18 disposals) stood tall for Scottsdale.
The men’s game took place thereafter, and the visitors made a solid start with four goals to two in the first quarter.
However, Deloraine hit back with 4.6 in the second quarter and restricted the Magpies to three behinds to go up 17 points at half-time.
The home side remained in control in the second half, kicking five goals to two in the third quarter to lead by 39 at the last change.
In the end, it was a relatively comprehensive 16.19 (115) to 8.6 (54) win for Deloraine over Scottsdale.
Jaylen Chilcott (four goals, five marks, 15 disposals) and Laiden Bloomfield (14 marks, 39 hit-outs, 38 disposals) were among Deloraine’s best in their win over Scottsdale.
And for the Magpies, Jacob Singline (eight tackles, 10 marks, 28 disposals) and Bradley Whish-Wilson (one goal, 10 marks, 26 disposals) held their ground in defeat.

NWFL vs SFL Representative Games
At Dial Park in Penguin, men’s and women’s teams from the NWFL and SFL faced off against one another.
The women’s match was first on the table, and the SFL got off to a red-hot start, kicking 3.6 in the first term and keeping the NWFL scoreless throughout.
The NWFL got on the board in the second quarter, however the SFL furthered their lead to 31 points at the main break.
After half-time, the NWFL were able to cut back the SFL’s lead to 19 points at three-quarter-time after kicking three goals to one in the third term.
Ultimately, the SFL were too good, finishing with a three-goal to one of their own and winning 9.11 (65) to 5.3 (33).
For the SFL, Grace White was awarded the medal as best afield for a performance that included three majors and 27 disposals.
And for the NWFL, Sarah Skinner was defiant in defeat with 18 disposals and a goal and won the best-on-ground medal for the NWFL.
The men’s game then took place and early on it looked to be a shoot-out, with the NWFL notching seven majors in the opening quarter and the SFL notching four.
In the face of a three-goal deficit, the SFL struck back in the second term, kicking four goals to one and drawing the scores even at 8.2 apiece at half-time.
The NWFL registered the only major of the third term and retook the lead, in front by two points at the last change.
In the final quarter, the SFL rallied and charged toward victory, kicking five goals to two for the interval to win 13.12 (90) to 11.5 (71).
Bryce Alomes was superb for the SFL with a haul of six goals and was awarded the medal as the best player afield for the SFL.
For the NWFL, Keegan Lowe was tenacious in defeat and was deemed best-on-ground for the North West.
