The Easter weekend dished up some intriguing football across the various premier leagues around Tasmania.
NWFL Premier League - Latrobe vs Ulverstone, East Devonport vs Latrobe
On Good Friday, a double-header between the men’s and women’s premier leagues took place at Girdlestone Park in East Devonport.
Kicking off the action were Latrobe and Ulverstone’s senior women’s sides. The latter got off to a flyer, kicking 6.6 in the first term and holding Latrobe scoreless throughout.
Ulverstone notched another 3.3 unopposed in the second quarter, taking a lead of 63 points into the main interval.
The Robins resumed their dominance after half-time, kicking eleven goals in the second half as the hapless Latrobe were still unable to register a score.
In the end, it was an emphatic 20.16 (136) to 0.0 (0) victory for Ulverstone over the Demons.
Lucah Conkie (10 goals, five inside-50s, 31 disposals) and Mia Aylett (one goal, six marks, 24 disposals) were superb for the Robins in a big win.
Meanwhile, Latrobe’s Lainess Richards (six clearances, 16 tackles, 11 disposals) was a shining light on a tough day for the Dees.
Following the women’s game, East Devonport and Latrobe’s men’s senior sides faced off.
Latrobe made a strong start, kicking 4.5 to the Swans’ 1.4 in the opening quarter. In the second term, the Demons kicked away to a 59-point lead at half-time.
Latrobe continued to pile on the pain in the second half, kicking 8.5 to East Devonport’s 1.2 in the third quarter.
The Dees finished strongly with a seven-goal to one final quarter, which capped off a dominant 26.21 (177) to 4.6 (30) win for the former.

NTFA Premier League - North Launceston vs Launceston, Deloraine vs South Launceston
In the NTFA, North Launceston and Launceston’s men’s senior sides faced off at UTAS Stadium in an evening fixture on Good Friday.
North Launceston made early inroads, kicking 4.2 to Launceston’s 1.1 in the opening quarter.
The second term was less favourable for scoring, as both teams only managed one major apiece.
After being in front by 21 points at the half, North Launceston went on to extend their lead in the third term, kicking 7.4 to 2.2 for the interval.
The final quarter was a clinical display from the home side, kicking five goals to one to seal a 17.15 (117) to 5.7 (37) win over Launceston.
Beau Nash (one goal, seven marks, 35 disposals) and Brad Cox-Goodyer (five inside-50s, six goals, 24 disposals) were excellent for North Launceston.
And for Launceston, Zach Morris (six one-percenters, 11 marks, 37 disposals) and Brodie Palfreyman (five inside-50s, seven tackles, 25 disposals) were resolute in defeat.
On Easter Saturday, Deloraine and South Launceston senior women’s sides did battle at the former’s home ground.
The first quarter was an arm wrestle, as neither Deloraine nor the Bulldogs were able to register a goal for the interval.
However, scoring opened up in the second quarter, with three majors kicked between the two sides.
With a lead of eight points in hand at the main break, Deloraine came out in force in the third term, restricting the Dogs’ scoring and extending their lead to 15 points at the last change.
In the end, the Roos were too good, holding off South Launceston in the final quarter to win 4.4 (28) to 1.1 (7).
Lauren Stevenson (five marks, six clearances, 31 disposals) and Alex Whitehead (one goal, seven tackles, 26 disposals) were pivotal in an important win for Deloraine.
For South Launceston, Liana Freestone (six marks, eight tackles, 26 disposals) and Hayley Breward (five rebound inside-50s, nine tackles, 22 disposals) were brave in defeat.

SFL Premier League - Clarence vs North Hobart
In the south, Clarence and North Hobart’s senior men’s and women’s sides respectively resumed hostilities in an Easter Saturday double-header at Ninja Stadium.
The men’s teams faced off earlier in the afternoon, and it looked to be a shootout early with both sides kicking five goals apiece in the opening term.
However, the Roos were able to secure a lead of 12 points at half-time after kicking 4.1 to North Hobart’s 2.3 in the second quarter.
Both sides missed opportunities in the third term, however Clarence marginally extended their half-time lead to 14 at three-quarter-time.
Ultimately, the Roos outlasted the Demons in the final quarter to win 16.16 (112) to 13.12 (90).
Following the men’s game, Clarence and North Hobart’s senior women’s teams battled. North Hobart started well, holding the Roos scoreless for the first quarter while kicking 2.4.
However, some wayward kicking from the Dees in the second quarter saw Clarence recover some ground, cutting the margin back by three points at half-time.
North Hobart steadied in the third term, kicking two goals to one to lead by 21 at the final change.
Despite a daring effort in the final quarter by Clarence kicking three goals to one, the Demons held on to win 5.13 (43) to 5.3 (33).
