AFL Tasmania recognises the contribution of the North Melbourne Football Club to football in our state.

This week marks the club’s final AFL Men’s game in Tasmania, bringing to a close a fourteen-year partnership with the state that began in 2012.

In that time, the Roos have delivered countless memorable moments for Tasmanian fans and provided AFL football to passionate Hobart supporters for nearly a decade.

We thank North Melbourne for their support across both the AFL and AFLW competitions and for their commitment to our grassroots community.

The club played a pivotal role in Tasmanian schools through the Next Gen in Schools program, invested in the Next Generation Academy, and have been a respectful and valued tenant in our state.

From Premiership Cup tours to community camps and footy clinics, the Roos embraced Tasmania as their home away from home. Their commitment extended to strong public support for the Devils and a genuine appreciation for the privilege of calling Tasmania home.

Under the leadership of Dr Sonia Hood AM and Jennifer Watt, North Melbourne have been terrific partners to AFL Tasmania and football more broadly. We are deeply grateful for their approach and care for our state.

The journey isn’t over - we look forward to hosting two AFLW matches in Launceston and Hobart this coming season. And while the state eagerly anticipates the Tasmania Devils’ AFL entry in 2028, we thank North Melbourne for the role they have played in Tasmania.
