The June winner of WorkSafe Victoria's Footy's Favourite Farmer competition is Latrobe Valley cattle farmer Aydan Garrett.

A keen footballer, the Rosedale FNC full forward suffered significant, life-changing injuries in an on-farm incident in 2020. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of wearing a seatbelt when operating machinery.

Aydan now lives with ongoing challenges from his severe injuries and was forced to retire from playing.

However, since then he has selflessly channelled his passion for the game and club into coaching the Rosedale Reserves in the North Gippsland Football Netball League for the last five years, continues to serve as a dedicated committee member for the last four years and constantly helps with endless odd jobs around the club.

Nominations for the 2026 WorkSafe Footy's Favourite Farmer close next Friday 31 July - NOMINATE NOW.

The farmer who is crowned Footy's Favourite Farmer for 2026 will win:

  • $10,000 towards safety improvements for the winning farmer on their property
  • $10,000 towards safety improvements to the winners local football/netball club

There are also monthly prizes for nominated farmers and their clubs including:

  • WorkSafe branded work shirt & boot covers
  • A Sherrin Football and Gilbert Netball
