The 2025 Marsh AFL National Development Championships – U16 Girls gets under way this weekend.
Ten teams will take part in the Championships, competing across two pools. Each team will play two matches, with games scheduled in five states from Sunday, April 6 to Thursday, April 17.
Pool A will comprise six teams, including the Brisbane Lions Academy, Gold Coast Suns Academy, South Australia, Victoria Country, Victoria Metro and Western Australia.
Four teams will compete in Pool B, including the GWS Giants Academy, Northern Territory, Sydney Swans Academy and Tasmania.
The teams that finish top of the standings for each pool will be crowned title winners.
If two teams finish equal on points atop a ladder, the title will be awarded to the team that won the round-robin match between those two teams. If those two sides have not played against each other, or if more than two teams finish equal on points atop a ladder, the title will be awarded to the team with the highest percentage.
South Australia and GWS Giants Academy are the reigning title holders for Pool A and Pool B respectively.
At the conclusion of the Championships each team will select their MVP, with an overall best and fairest and All Australian team to also be selected by a panel comprising AFL Talent Pathways staff and AFLW recruiters.
