Twenty-five players were selected in the first round of the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft, which was held tonight at Marvel Stadium, including 10 Victorian boys.

The West Coast Eagles drafted Gippsland Power (Foster Tigers) utility Willem Duursma with the number one pick.

Duursma received the Allan Aylett Medal, which is presented annually to the number one selection in the Telstra AFL Draft.

The 18-year-old became the fourth sibling in the Duursma family to be drafted, following in the footsteps of his brothers Xavier and Zane, and sister Yasmin.

It is a feat that has previously been achieved by just 13 families across the history of the AFL and AFLW competitions.

Originally from the Foster Football Club, Duursma became the second player from the Gippsland Power to be drafted with the number one pick behind Brendon Goddard.

Duursma was named at centre half back in the 2025 Marsh AFL National Championships U18 All Australian Team after winning Victoria Country’s MVP Award. He was also named captain of the Coates Talent League Team of the Year.

Following closely behind Duursma was father-son selection, Harry Dean (Lavington / Murray Bushrangers), who was selected by Carlton with Pick 3, and Cooper Duff-Tytler (Woodend-Hesket / Calder Cannons) who joins Duursma at the West Coast Eagles.

Sam Grlj (Canterbury Cobras / Kew Bears / Oakleigh Chargers) was selected by Richmond and Sullivan Robey (Rowville / Beaconsfield / Eastern Ranges) by Essendon with Picks 8 and 9 respectively, to round out the Victorian selections in the top 10.

There were nine bids placed throughout the first round of the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft, with seven bids matched.

Below are all the selections from the first round of the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft.
