Community Partners
AFL COMMUNITY CONNECT
AFL Community Connect is more than just footy - it’s about building a sense of belonging and connection. These locally led programs are co-designed with families, community organisations, and councils to ensure every session is meaningful, culturally safe and welcoming.
Through AFL Community Connect, children and families from all backgrounds can have a go, make new friends, and feel at home - whether trying footy for the first time or coming back with mates.
AFL SCHOOL CONNECT
AFL School Connect will see an AFL Education Specialist placed in four schools across select LGAs to deliver curriculum aligned content over a minimum 12-month period.
This program will engage the wider school community as well as upskill and support teachers, equipping them with resources and knowledge on how to teach physical education through Australian Football.
In partnership with AFL Clubs, School Connect will strengthen the sense of belonging and connection to the game through player appearances and match attendance opportunities.
PLACE-BASED APPROACH
Programs will be delivered via a place-based approach to help address issues and take advantage of opportunities within a specific geographic area through a spirit of collaboration and capacity building to drive sustainable, community-led change by
- Engaging community members and local organisations.
- Utilising local knowledge in the process of co-design.
- Tailoring solutions to the unique needs and context of the place.
- Adopting a shared decision making and stewardship approach.
