The Elliott Hawks delivered a clinical display against Canteen Creek, led by another standout performance from competition star Kayla Costello in the 2025 Barkly Australian Football League.

Dominant around the contest, Costello also booted two goals to set the tone early. She was well supported by Jasmine Bathern, Kalisha Huckstadt-Rankine and Ryashanti Jackson, while Shakana Rankine and Luelle Raymond proved dangerous in attack with two goals apiece.

Despite the loss, Canteen Creek found positives through the strong efforts of Kirani Long, Penelope Long and Delina Butcher, who all battled hard to keep their side in the contest.

The Spitfires bounced back strongly from last week’s defeat, posting a convincing win over Janapurlalki Eagles. Delaicee Hansen was unstoppable, slotting three goals and dominating through the middle. Mikeely Fraser provided plenty of drive, while Dayna Dowling was clinical in front of goal with four majors. Vice-captains Jessica Roberts and Keara Baker-Storey led by example to guide the Spitfires home.

The Eagles will look to regroup quickly ahead of this weekend’s crucial clash with Canteen Creek.

In the men’s division, Elliott underlined their premiership credentials with a powerful win over Epenarra, dealing a blow to the Saints’ finals hopes. Lane Jackson was again the focal point up forward, bagging five goals to extend his lead in the goalkicking race. Midfield dominance from Denzel Anderson, Leroy Jones and Keon Raymond ensured Elliott maintained control throughout.

For Epenarra, the challenge now is clear: win their remaining three games to keep their finals dream alive.

The round concluded with YDU tightening the screws on Ali Curung’s top-four chances. YDU flew out of the blocks with a 20–0 start, before two quick Ali Curung goals narrowed the margin to 12 points. But any hopes of a comeback were snuffed out as YDU piled on five second-half goals to seal the result.

Rico Billy-Joe was again the star with three goals, supported by Kostya Green (two), while Tycelle Douglas, Ishmael Nandy and Nathan Duggie also hit the scoreboard.

Ali Curung, now sitting just outside the top four, faces a tense run home. With a bye this weekend, they will need to win out and rely on other results to keep their finals chances alive.
