The Big Rivers Football League once again joined forces with the No More campaign over the weekend, reaffirming its commitment to tackling family violence across the Territory. On and off the field, players, clubs, and communities stood united for change during a powerful round of football.
Ngukurr secured a crucial 10-point win over Eastside on Friday night, giving themselves valuable breathing room on the ladder.
The Bulldogs took control early, kicking three goals to Eastside’s one in the first half. But a second-half surge from Eastside brought the margin back to a single kick. Both teams struggled to generate clean ball movement in a tense final term, with Ngukurr’s four behinds proving enough to seal the win.
Tessa Daniels, Michelle Farrell, and Janita Robertson were instrumental for the Bulldogs, while Eastside’s Vayda Menmuir, Stella Justice Allen, and Caroline Marton battled hard to keep their side in it.
The Arnhem Crows maintained their unbeaten 2025 campaign, overcoming a determined Katherine Camels outfit.
The Crows set up the win in the first half, kicking five goals to take a commanding 33-point lead into the main break. The Camels fought back admirably in the second half, matching the Crows with three goals apiece to finish the game.
Tayha Ulamari led the way for Arnhem, with strong support from Jonita Kingsley and Angel Ahfat. Rianna Ryan and Lynelle Ahfat were dangerous in attack, each finishing with two goals.
Despite the loss, the Camels showed promising signs through Katie Leslie, Cassandra Glover, and Chloe Jacobs.
The Katherine River Saints made it back-to-back wins with a thrilling five-point victory over Ngukurr in a game that went down to the wire.
Ngukurr led at every break, holding a 12-point advantage at halftime and an eight-point buffer heading into the final term. But the Saints surged late, kicking three goals to one in the last quarter to steal the win.
Jordan Godfrey, Wyatt Campbell, and Kynan Midle starred for the Saints, while forward Troy Gillett delivered four goals in a match-winning performance. Ngukurr’s Dean Daniels and Tyrese Thompson stood tall in a hard-fought defeat.
The Gurindji Eagles registered their first win of the season with a commanding performance over the Ngaliwurru Lions.
A six-goal first half laid the foundation, as the Eagles controlled the contest with clean ball movement and superior foot skills. The Lions found some rhythm in the third term, but Gurindji finished strong to run out convincing winners.
It was a complete team effort from the Eagles, with dominance through the midfield the standout. Desmond Jones and Lloyd McCann were the Lions’ best on a tough day.
The Katherine Camels delivered a season-best performance, defeating the Northern Warlpiri Swans with 19 goals from a staggering 33 scoring shots.
A total of 10 individual goalkickers underlined the Camels' depth, with Daniel Vercoe booting four, and Tristan Warner and Oliver Oshea adding three each. Lachlan Wareham and Scott Carlin controlled the midfield in a dominant display.
Despite the heavy defeat, the Swans finished strongly, kicking four goals in the final quarter to take some momentum into next week.
The Arnhem Crows rounded out No More Round with an emphatic win over Borroloola to remain tied with the Camels atop the ladder.
Owen Campbell-Shields led the way with three goals, as the Crows bookended the game with four-goal quarters to stamp their authority.
Riley Paterson and Tyrell Fredericks were among Arnhem’s best, while Braun Bush and Jesse Hogan each contributed two majors. For the Thunders, Cain O’Keefe and Adam Noble battled valiantly throughout.
The Big Rivers Football League would like to thank all clubs for supporting NO MORE Round over the weekend, as we take a stand – on and off the field – to end family violence.
