Round 2 of the 2025 TIO Central Australian Football League was split across Jim McConville and Albrecht Oval, with big margins and standout performances the theme of the weekend.
West cemented second spot on the ladder with a comfortable win over the Pioneer Eagles. They dominated early territory and kicked two first-term goals, but inaccuracy limited their lead to 18 points at the first break. West settled in the second with another two goals to one and added two more in the third.
A three-goal final term sealed a 52-point win.
Caitlin Couch was dominant, finishing with five goals in a best-on-ground performance. Gigi Dadds showed her class, while Keippa Newton added two goals of her own.
Federal recorded a commanding win over South Alice Springs in a clinical team effort.
Eleven individual goalkickers featured, with Libby Taylor starring in a breakout game, bagging eight goals. Alice Faulks and Charlotte Rudd each added four in a massive day for the red and whites.
The Rovers responded strongly after a round one loss, taking down Alkamilya with a well-rounded display. Ebony Abbott-McCormack led the charge with six goals, supported by Lara Harding—who continued her push for best and fairest honours—and Doreena Hansen, who kicked four.
Alkamilya’s Tamika Rumpff and Felisha Swan were among their best in a tough outing.
In the mens, Pioneer notched their first win of 2025 with a solid performance over West.
The match opened with six goals in the first quarter, and Pioneer held an 11-point lead at the break. A five-goal second term pushed the Eagles further ahead, though West stayed within striking range.
The third quarter proved decisive, with Pioneer slotting three straight goals, while West faltered with one goal and five behinds. A perfect five-goal final term sealed a 35-point win.
Wesley Steele was outstanding with six majors, earning best-on-ground honours. Jacob Ross and Isaiah Miller also played key roles. For West, Jordan Bailey was strong, and Ishmael Nandy slotted three goals.
Meanwhile, Federal moved a game clear on top of the ladder with a powerful win over South Alice Springs. Federal jumped out with six goals to two in the opening term and added another five to one in the second to lead by 47 points at halftime.
Though Souths finished strongly, winning the final term four goals to three, Federal’s dominant third quarter—featuring seven goals—left no doubt in the 71-point result.
Abraham Ankers continued his strong form with two goals, while Sam LaPorta and Nathan Mutch each kicked three. Ariki Lowe starred through the midfield in a commanding team effort.
