AFL Northern Territory (AFLNT) advises that all 2025/26 TIO NTFL Round 8 scheduled matches scheduled for Friday 21 to Monday 24 November have been cancelled due to the anticipated impact of Tropical Cyclone Fina. 

                              

Made in line with the AFLNT Extreme Weather Policy, the decision reflects the latest advice from the Bureau of Meteorology and has been made by AFLNT’s Emergency Management Team, who have been actively monitoring the situation. 

 

Impact on Round 8 Matches 

  • All scheduled Round 8 games are cancelled. 

  • As no matches have commenced, all matches will be treated as washouts, with each team awarded two premiership points and no scores recorded. 

 

Statement from Head of AFL Northern Territory, Sam Gibson: “The evolving nature of Tropical Cyclone Fina means we cannot take any risks.  

 

Following the latest advice from the Bureau of Meteorology and in line with our Extreme Weather Policy, we’ve made the decision to cancel matches to protect players, officials, and the wider football community as the cyclone moves through the Top End.”
