Round 2 of the 2026 Big Rivers Football League competition featured three strong performances across Friday and Saturday, with Eastside, Northern Warlpiri Mozzies, and Arnhem Crows all recording convincing wins in the women’s division.
At Tindal Oval on Friday evening, Eastside defeated Katherine River Saints by 30 points, finishing 7.12 (54) to 4.0 (24). Eastside built their advantage steadily after a tight opening quarter, using strong ball movement and forward efficiency to take control of the contest. The Saints remained competitive early and continued to apply pressure around the contest, but Eastside’s ability to convert opportunities proved decisive. Nikesha Jones was outstanding in front of goal with three majors, while Acacia Lewis added two, and Drew Cook and Vanessa Stokes each contributed one.
On Saturday at Nitmiluk Oval, Northern Warlpiri Mozzies produced a dominant team display to defeat Katherine South Crocs 9.6 (60) to 0.0 (0). The Mozzies controlled the game from the outset, applying strong defensive pressure and transitioning quickly into attack. They continued to build throughout each quarter, maintaining intensity and structure across the ground. Georgia Rowley, Madison Hohn, and Grace Kennedy were among the Crocs’ best in a challenging outing.
Later in the day, Arnhem Crows delivered the most emphatic result of the round, defeating Katherine Camels 15.12 (102) to 0.0 (0). The Crows were relentless from the opening bounce, dominating possession and territory across all four quarters. Georgina Runyu, Jonita Kingsley, and Tynequa Bush were named among the best in a comprehensive team performance.
On Friday night at Tindal Oval, the Katherine River Saints Senior Men delivered a composed and well-structured performance to defeat Garrak Bombers by 46 points, finishing 11.17 (83) to 6.1 (37). After a tight opening period, the Saints gradually took control through the midfield, building sustained pressure and creating repeated forward entries. Their ability to lock the ball in attack proved a key factor as the game progressed, allowing them to steadily extend their lead across the second half.
The Bombers continued to work hard throughout the match and showed improvement in their ball movement in patches, particularly during the third quarter, but were ultimately unable to match the Saints’ consistency and scoreboard efficiency.
Kayle Kossack, Kynan Milde, and Gabriel Mulholland were among the Saints’ standout contributors in a strong team display.
The following afternoon at the Katherine Showgrounds, Katherine Camels produced an even more convincing performance, defeating Arnhem Crows by 53 points, 15.7 (97) to 6.8 (44). The Camels set the tone early with clean ball use and strong contested work, establishing control through the centre of the ground.
Arnhem Crows battled hard across four quarters and showed resilience in contested situations, but the Camels’ ability to transition quickly into attack and finish efficiently in front of goal proved decisive.
Mitch Carlin, Brock Reynolds, and Daniel Vercoe were named among the Camels’ best in a well-rounded team performance.
