The much-anticipated fixtures for the 2025 Townsville RMS Men’s Premiership and Townsville KX Pilates Senior Women’s Cup have been unveiled, promising action-packed seasons.

Saturday, March 22nd will mark the first bounce of the season with the senior competition beginning, followed by the youth male and female leagues starting the following week on March 29th.

The 2025 season for the senior men’s and women’s will feature 16 home and away matches across 22 weeks, including a pre-finals bye.

Finals will commence on August 23rd, with the highly anticipated Grand Final to be held at Riverway Stadium on Saturday, September 6th.

The competition will see five clubs – Swans, Tigers, Bulldogs, Suns, and Hawks – fighting it out across three senior grades: Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s, and Reserve Men’s.

A highlight of the season will be the inaugural AFL Townsville Gather Round, set for Round 1 at the Murray Sports Complex, home to both the Curra Swans and Hermit Park Tigers. Both clubs boast new change room and toilet facilities and saw the installation of competition lighting added to Neil French Oval and Muldoon Oval last year.

The Swans host the Northern Beaches Suns in three blockbuster games across the three grades, while Hermit Park will take on Thuringowa Bulldogs. The day will kick off with both reserve games at noon, finishing with both men’s matches to be played under lights.

AFL Regional Lead – North Queensland, Dan Watts, said he was excited to launch the AFL Townsville Gather Round to mark the start of the 2025 season.

“We were inspired by the AFL and the fantastic Gather Round they host in South Australia, and now with the competition lighting installed at Curra Swans and Hermit Park, it’s a concept we’ve been able to bring to life,” he said.

“2025 is shaping up to be another great year of footy in paradise. We’ve got new coaches at three of the five men’s clubs so it will be interesting and exciting to see what they bring to the competition.

“In the Townsville RMS Men’s Premiership, the Bulldogs are always the team to watch and having won the last three flags in a row, will be going for number four. Hermit Park will be looking for a threepeat in the Townsville KX Pilates Senior Women’s Cup.”

Additional key matchups for the season include:

  • Round 4: A thrilling Senior Men’s Grand Final rematch between the Curra Swans and Thuringowa Bulldogs.
  • ANZAC Day Match: The traditional ANZAC clash between the Hermit Park Tigers and Curra Swans, marking the 11th anniversary of this prestigious encounter. This match will also feature the Senior Women’s Grand Final rematch between Swans and Tigers.

  • ANZAC Round – Saturday, April 26th
  • Sir Doug Nicholls Round – Saturday, May 17th / Saturday, May 24th
