Bond University’s Shannon Nolan won the Emma Zielke Medal and Palm Beach Currumbin’s Levi Casboult claimed the 80th J.A Grogan Medal, Queensland’s Australian rules football’s highest individual honours, in front of 300 guests at The Gabba earlier this evening.

Nolan had a commanding lead by Round 11 of the Bond University QAFLW competition and opposed all competition to claim her first Emma Zielke Medal with a total of 18 votes.

Known for her speed, bravery and impressive ability to play above her size, Nolan was named 11 times in the Bull Sharks’ best players in her 16 games played.

She had been recognised earlier in the evening with selection in the 2025 Bond University QAFLW Team of the Year, placed in the midfield.

In the TPIL Lawyers QAFL competition, the J.A Grogan Medallist was enthralling, with the winner revealed in the count from the very last game.

Palm Beach Currumbin’s Casboult was able to poll all three votes for Best on Ground in their Round 20 clash against Redland Victoria Point. This saw him finish with a total of 23 votes, one ahead of Morningside’s Jack Rolls (ineligible) and two ahead of Surfers Paradise’s Benjamin Woodburn.

After playing 197 AFL games for the Gold Coast SUNS and Carlton, Casboult joined the Lions this season and made an immediate impact.

Renowned for his elite contested marking, versatility and leadership on and off the field, he booted 80 goals in the regular season.

He was also named in the 2025 TPIL Lawyers QAFL Team of the Year.
