The round begins with a blockbuster contest between the two teams that faced off in last year’s grand final – Nightcliff and St Marys.

The Tigers are loaded with a strong team with star midfielder Lachlan Tardrew and ex-AFL forward Fergus Greene both named. Skipper Ryan Nyhuis also returns for his third game of the season to give Nightcliff some extra stability in defence.

St Marys have lost the past three games and will be desperate to get their season back on track with a win. Key forward Jackson Calder will celebrate his 100th game, which will give the Saints some extra ammunition heading into tonight’s clash.

Wanderers will host the Tiwi Bombers at Tracy Village Oval tomorrow afternoon.

After salvaging a draw against Palmerston last weekend, the Eagles will need a win in this match to keep any chance of making the finals alive.

Tiwi did what they needed to do in last weekend’s win over the Darwin Buffaloes with local duo Michael Thompson and Anthony Munkara producing starring performances. Former Collingwood and Hawthorn wingman Tom Phillips for his first game of the club, while ex-AFL pair Marlion Pickett and Matthew Parker are also expected to return.

The Bombers will enter as favourites but if Wanderers can bring a contested style of footy, they are a chance of causing an upset.

PINT will look to rebound from last weekend’s loss to Southern Districts in tomorrow night’s game against the Darwin Buffaloes.

It has been a tricky season to navigate for new coach Mark Whiley, but there have been positive signs in recent matches. Expect the bigger-bodied Greenants team to employ a ‘southern’ style of football against the Buffaloes, looking to keep control of the football and delivery strong entries into star forward Chris Nield.

Sunday’s contest at Norbuilt Oval will see a battle between the two teams placed at the top of the ladder. Southern Districts are a formidable outfit and have been hard to fault so far this season. The Crocs got the job done comfortably last weekend with Jed Anderson continuing his blistering form, alongside Matt Shannon and Connor Giddings. Former Port Adelaide defender Tom Clurey is also getting better with each match in the Top End.

Pundits continue to underrate Waratah, who recorded yet another impressive victory against St Marys last weekend. But the boys in red and white are missing a couple of key players for Sunday’s clash, so it will be a monumental effort if they were to topple the premiership favourites.
