Southern Districts and Waratah will open the round under lights at Norbuilt Oval on Friday night.
The Crocs look poised to continue their strong run of form in this match-up. They were ruthless in last weekend’s big win over Wanderers, with Eva Harris and Rhania Hewitt combining for nine goals, while Emma Forsyth and Taelah Smith also shone across the ground.
Waratah sit at the bottom of the ladder and face a significant challenge against a Districts outfit humming along nicely.
The Crocs will enter as overwhelming favourites.
Saturday’s clash between Tiwi Bombers and Wanderers at TIO Stadium shapes as an intriguing contest, with both sides desperate to rebound from heavy defeats. Tiwi were well beaten by Palmerston, while Wanderers were swept aside by a clinical Southern Districts outfit.
Despite the scoreboard pain, Wanderers did find positives through the efforts of Jacinta Friel, Shekeine De Satge and Jonita Kingsley, who all battled hard.
Tiwi’s season has been an up-and-down one, producing flashes of exciting football but with only one win to show for it. They will see this as a genuine chance to claim a second victory, though Wanderers will start the match as slight favourites.
PINT host Palmerston on Saturday night at DXC Arena.
The Magpies rediscovered their best football last weekend, dismantling Tiwi by more than ten goals in a confidence-boosting performance. Ella Ward was superb with a five-goal haul in a dominant best-on-ground display, while emerging talents Danika McDonald, Marika Carlton and Jorja Davey all made significant contributions.
They now face a much tougher assignment in the form of a PINT side that has been one of the competition’s most consistent performers.
Two undefeated powerhouses meet in the clear match of the round – a grand final rematch that promises plenty. Nightcliff were not at their best last weekend, but still managed a comfortable victory over Waratah. Former Warrior Kierra Zerafa impressed against her old side, with Cassie McWilliam and Laura Roy also producing strong performances. The Tigers will not have forgotten last season’s dramatic grand final heartbreak and will be eager to make a statement.
St Marys, meanwhile, were impressive in their win over the Darwin Buffettes. Lakhyah Hill and Makenzy Smith set the tone with influential displays, while former NAB AFLW fan favourite Sarah Perkins provided a powerful target up forward, finishing with three goals.
This one shapes as a brilliant contest.
