With the National Transfer Window open, signings have begun to drop across the QAFL and Bond University QAFLW competitions as sides get active in their list building ahead of the 2025 season.

Noosa have added some depth to their stocks, announcing the signing of Angus Byrne from the Echuca Football Club. The centre half-forward played 25 games at VFL level with Geelong, and adds a wealth of size and talent to their forward line.

Noosa were one of the earlier clubs to have their stars recommit, with Daniel Rich, Mitch Conn, Jonathan Freeman, and Curtis McCarthy all re-committing to the 2025 season back in June.

Maroochydore have recently announced one of this off-season’s biggest recruits, with former Richmond Tiger Noah Cumberland committing to his junior club following his AFL delisting. Cumberland played 25 AFL games and 36 VFL games for the Tigers, and will return home to Fisherman’s Road where he’s played 184 games in the green and gold.

The Roos have also signed a key Bond University QAFLW recruit in Amy Bisset, who joins from Wynyard in Tasmania’s NWFL. Bisset represented Tasmania against Queensland in July’s state game at Bond University and brings a wealth of senior experience to the squad.

Sherwood have bolstered their forward depth with the signing of former West Coast Eagle Jarrod Cameron. Cameron played 12 AFL games for West Coast, as well as more than 70 games in the WAFL for both West Coast and Swan Districts.

Coorparoo’s off-season recruiting will perhaps generate the most interest as the Kings prepare for their elevation to the QAFL. Early signings of former Mt. Gravatt stars Jonah Licht, who spent a year away from the QAFL playing in Mildura, and 2018 QAFL Team of the Year member Jayden Crawley, add some significant experience to their list. This is complemented by a number of re-signings from their QFA Division 1 squad, including key players Matt Suckling, Sam Holna, Ben Gibson and Will Abbot.

The Kings have also named a key signing for their Bond University QAFLW program, with Rose Clancy-Dilloncalling Giffin Park home for 2025 bringing a mix of WAFLW and SANFLW experience to the squad.

Morningside, fresh off their QAFL premiership, have signed former Warnambool defender Taylem Wason. Wason recently won the club’s Best and Fairest and was named in the Hampden League’s 2024 Team of the Year.

After a challenging 2024, Mt. Gravatt has been active in re-developing their list ahead of the 2025 season, naming several new recruits. Lincoln Edgar will join the club from the Glenmore Bulls, Cohen Frith from North Mackay will also join the Vultures, along with National ADF Representative member Jared Greenhill, Tweed Coast Tiger Daniel Hodgson and Jamie Whitehead from Surfers Paradise.

The Vultures have also named three former South Toowoomba teammates, in Bradley Knowles, Ryan Hodgson and Josh Liddington - who join their former coach, Nathan Stewart, at Dittmer Park for the 2025 season.

Broadbeach have announced the signings of several key recruits, including Beau Bailey, who joins the Cats from Bonbeach FC. Bailey has played 34 VFL games for Frankston and Sandringham. Jy Lane makes the move from the west, signing with the Cats after previously playing for Perth FC in the WAFL. The addition of Adrian Speedy further bolsters the club’s experience, with over 250 MPFNL games to his name.

With preseason training beginning for a number of clubs this week, we anticipate more signings to be announced in the coming weeks, as the QAFL and Bond University QAFLW prepare for another blockbuster year.
