Tasmania’s players won’t be the only ones taking centre stage on the Gold Coast this weekend, with six of the state’s top umpires selected to officiate Saturday’s representative games between Tasmania and Queensland.

There will be a local flavour across both games, with Tasmanian umpires across all disciplines in the men’s and women’s fixtures.

Brad Percey (TFUA) will run the men’s match, with Brendan Cook (TFUA) on the boundary and Mark Holmes (TFUA) in the goals. For the women’s contest, Adam Hayes (NTFUA) has been named as field umpire, Riley Lee-Heath (TFUA) will be on the boundary, and Max Genders (TFUA) in goal.

AFL Tasmania Umpire Recruitment & Retention Lead, Matt Phillips, said: “Congratulations to our six umpires who have been selected to represent the Tasmanian umpire fraternity in two massive games of representative footy.

“This is an exciting opportunity for those involved to travel interstate and call a high-level game alongside their peers from Queensland.

“It’s also reward for effort for these umpires, who have put forward some really strong performances at State League level and earned their spot in these games.”

The games will be played at Bond University, with the women kicking off at 11:00 AM and the men at 1:15 PM. Both will be streamed live on the official AFL Queensland YouTube channel
